I'm not sure if anyone here has heard of the Japanese "Obon"?
But it's a annual tradition to honor the dead. Usually a big festival
and a happy gathering of traditional dance, food and games, but
the gathering is to keep the evil spirits away.
We also have a tradition to celebrate the death of one after a year

impressed that your 24 year old owns his own home.....and, he owes
absolutely nothing to a bank or other lending institution, right? Because,
otherwise, he is just living there, someone
else owns it.

Do you know what we were doing at ASU? Looking for a few bright
students. Your name wasn't on the list. You're a loser, Guyz & Flyz.
You'll always be a loser.

5 weeks? Lemme do the math. Nope, ****. I'll be at Moosehead about a week
after you leave the state.

Well of course. Who buys a house with cash. We all have (had in our
case) mortgages at one time or another. Most can't buy a home without
borrowing money. He will pay off the 20 year mortgage and have a
little nest-egg before he's 45.

My point was that I was in my 30s before I could afford a home. My
grandson bought his in his early 20s, and my other grandson is in the
process of buying his, and both of my children bought their homes when
they were in their 20s.

It only illustrates that the economy is good. Unemployment is low, as
is inflation and interest rates. My kids are having an easy time of
it with the present economy. I, on the otherhand, retired and bought
my home as Carter was taking office. Interest rates in the high
teens, unemployment in double digits as was inflation. It wasn't
supposed to happen according to the "experts", but it did and I had a
hard time of it there for awhile.

Djyou see the market today? Up another record high. Of course it is
only on paper, or so they say, and what goes up can come down. Such
is life, eh?

Right at the mouth of Umbagog and the Rapid River is a small cabin on the
right owned by a NY Times columnist.
We rented this cabin from him a couple of times - for a week each time.
We went in by boat thru Errol ME? - I may be wrong here.

We (my wife and I) fished - hiked - Mt biked and had a ball.

Have a great time.

and
I will not invite you to my Bush impeachment party.

Sincerely
Fred

Fred was saying he's been fleeced. I told him that the economy is
wonderful. If he or anyone is getting fleeced it's because they are
stupid.

What, no "sincerely". Golly. Such a rant and I feel insulted because
you weren't sincere, Fred.

If gas goes to $4 a gallon, it's still cheap. When it was a buck a
gallon, how much were you making a year? $25k? $30K? Compared with
Europe, consider yourself lucky. And, while you rubbing your lucky
rabbits foot, tell the guvment to start building more refineries. The
last one built was 30 years ago. That would help to keep the price
down, btw. And don't forget to lobby for more drilling in Alaska.
And off shore. You want cheap oil, Fred, we'll get it for ya, but you
hafta do your part to.

Sincerely (really!),
Dave
