That's pretty ****ed up wayno. Perhaps I just expected more from a man that I
admired, respected and looked up to. Now I remember why I had threads like
this kf'd...... You really disappointed me man.

Ok, I read wayno's post a few times and I think I see what ****ed you off -
but I also think I see what wayno was actually saying, and it's probably not
grounds for impeachment.

I believe all wayno was saying was, George provided some entertaining moments
while he was still on this astral plane...

(of course I could be wrong, in which case you can feel free to thrash wayno
all you want ;-)

FWIW, I agree with Warren. It was a ****ed up thing to say, however you
want to interpret it.

I'm listening.

Looking at it as you suggest, I can see what you mean and will agree with that.
I could have been wrong and probably was, nothing new really..... It was just
the "haven't had as much fun since george died" that kind of set me off. I
took it to mean that he celebrated the fact while it brought me nothing but bad
memories and sorrow.

I was going through some stuff today trying to clear up some of the clutter
(gear, flies, mags, pics, etc) and realized that a week from today (or six days
now) marks the first anniversary of George's death. I found my favorite
picture of George where he is teaching my daughter how to string up her little
Snoopy fishin' pole. I had a hard time trying to explain it to her when George
died. She knew George better than my mother or father and it was hard trying
to explain the fact that George was dead to a three year old. Bad
memories...... "Cleaning" really bummed me out tonight and caused me to
reflect upon my life and myself as a person. Like others, George had a vision
of my future and I have not done as much I should (or could) to fulfill it. I
may have been a little hypersensitive when I read what wayno wrote and reacted
a little harshly.

I've never set out to "thrash" wayno and am not trying to do so now. I may
have misinterpreted what wayno meant. If I am wrong, then I sincerely
apologize to wayno. I *hope* I was wrong since wayno is one of the people on
ROFF that has given me some great advice on life, women and choosing a career
(much like my other advisor, George). Wayno is someone whom I have never
actually had the opportunity to spend much time with in person even though I
wished to. I have met some great people via ROFF and wished I had more time to
spend with wayno at Penn's. God I hope I was wrong tonight.

Granted, the phrasing "haven't had as much fun since George was around"
would have been much less susceptible to misinterpretation. Given,
though, that the phrase was tagged on to the end of a sentence clearly
urging Ehlers to keep up behavior that made him the object of fun, I
think it's safe to assume that it was George's behavior on ROFF, not his
death, that wayno was referring to.

I think you've always got to give people you already like and respect a
lot of benefit of the doubt when it comes to a single post on Usenet
that rubs you the wrong way.

FWIW, Warren doesn't even agree with Warren. Warren, bless his pointy
little head, misinterpreted Wayno's post. As for you, you despicable
putz, you're just trying to stir **** up.
