There's *nothing* in flyfishing like the sweet purr of a Hardy. I have an
LRH; a JLH; and my newest...a Bougle. The Bougle was purring on big

Missouri
River Bows...gotta love those reels. The Abels stayed in the van most of
that trip.

There's actually been people who have posted here complaining about the
"noise" Hardy and other similar reels make. Poor misquided souls.
Love those Bougle's and JLH's. There's a new grass stick in my future and I
think I'm going to put one of the Angel's on it.

I ain't one that complains, and none of my Hardys "purr"...

All in all it was a fun weekend and it helped lessen the sting of going
from
45 to 46. I will be back :)

Yah know, the tradition is that once you pass 45, you start handing out
presents to your senior friends. I'll take one of your spare T&T 4 wts.

Thursdays my big 45-to-46 day.

For some reason I pegged you as younger. Between you and Mr. Reid, I might
as well be 65 next to you two.

Happy Birthday.

Hey, hey, HEY! No artificial joints here (okay, the ones in my feet don't
count).

No problem, just as soon as I get one of your spare checks in return as a
birthday gift ;)

I've forgotten what it's like to tie on big flies since moving out west.
Last trout I hooked on top was with a size 24 midge on California's Hot
Creek.

Tell me about it, except for a couple of fish on a bunny leech at the

juan,
i've not hooked a trout in the three states I've fished west of the
Mississippi and anything bigger than a 20.

I need to sneak in a trip back to Michigan one of these days.

Just tell me when.

Billy Books (the *******!) is on his way some time before dawn. :(

In an email exchange (which, miraculously, did not get posted to ROFF)
earlier today, he and I agreed that we MUST do an expedition to the L.P.
holy waters next year......in addition to the planned U.P. clave. He voted
for the hex hatch. I'm game......but the dates must be fixed far in
advance.....too many trips have failed to materialize for want of being
fixed and on the calendar.

What started as a clave of folks from the old compuserve fly fishing program
has turned into an annual get together the 4th week of June. In the 10 years
I have been going there we've hit the hex about half the time, two years
(1996 and 2004) there was not crap happening except for a lot of drinking
and BSing while the other three were solid into the brown drakes.

Barring some event which means I 'm no longer amongst the living, I will be
in Grayling from June 22nd through June 26th, with one of the weekdays
tentative for a visit to a certain dead lawyers' shack and pond. I can't
promise you the hex but I think you will like most of the company.

We're in the process of changing the focus of our little event from a fund
raiser back to a fishing trip if you would like.

If you're that dead set on getting the hex tho, I would suggest sometime
right after the 4th of July.

Those dates far enough in advance for you?
