Serve in any of these units? 2-33 Armor, 1-68 Armor, 1-1 Cavalry, 1-12 Cavalry, 2-6 Cavalry, (I also served in Armor Bn's at Carson and Polk but cant remember which one...getting old. Oh and I was a Drill Sergeant at Knox). |

I know I'm old, (I remember M-60A1s, 1911A1s and M16A1s) Although the M-60A1 was actually developed in 1959, the M1911 in patented in 1898 and the M16A1 in the late 1960's the M-60A1 didnt go out of service until 1989 (Lat unit other than some Guard units was at Fort Polk, they transitioned to the M1IP), the M1911A1 did go out of service until 1985 and the M16A1 is still in service, although the majority of the units in Iraq are issued the M-4, many are still issued the M-16A2 and plenty are still carrying around M16A1's. I was surprised to see them myself over the last year while I was in Kuwait/Iraq. |
