Height of Infamy
I was in Walmart this evening. I go in there about once every 6 months
for something they sell that costs 4X as much elsewhere. At the register, the register operator called over the front end manager. while i side with you completely, be advised that you have no first amendment protection here, walmart being unconnected with the government. US Gubmint yes, Chinese, no. I know about the fact that they can refuse service to anyone. Just a bit miffed that they guy (and the clerk) did not understand the joke. If I remember right, "bite me" is oft used on the Simpsons. I personnally, am offended by the anti-abortion and/or religious right messages often seen on T-shirts worn in their stores. Mayhaps I should make my own complaints. If they consider something like my t-shirt offensive, maybe I should wander around the store, find those folks and point everyone out to management as offensive to me. Frank Reid |

The manager asked me "not to wear that t-shirt into their store again.
Some may consider it offensive." ... Heavens, she must have mistaken it for a wet fly. SPLORK ! Well played, old bean, well played. SPLORK VANG. Not quite a true vang mu, but close. Even made my spousal unit chuckle. Hmm, 'nother thought. Maybe I can find a Church of Satan t-shirt and wear it in there. Find the same clerk. Frank Reid |

That's the whole point. Those people are their base -- ignorant, superstitious, gullible rednecks with no regard for quality merchandise or community values. Walmart can't afford to offend them, but they can afford to offend you. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

Walmart can't afford to offend them, but they can afford to offend you. And, how, pray tell, can they tell the difference just by looking at Frank? I've never met any rednecks from Nebraska. Are you talking farmers? Frank's shirt would offend me if I didn't know him. "Bite me" has bad connotations, like, "suck my dick". I saw a technician at GTE sent home to change his shirt that said, "INTERCOURSE, pa, is for lovers" and the pa was very, very small script. Every store/business has a dress code. If you do not live up to that code, then you should leave if asked to. No harm. No foul. Can you imagine what would happen if I wore my "Kennedy's car has killed more people than my shotgun" T-shirt in Hyannis, or you wore a "If you think sex is a pain in the ass, you're doing it wrong" T-shirt in Menlo Park, or "**** Happens" in any town in the U.S. This has NOTHING to do with Walmart, rednecks, blue/red states, Dems or Republicans, liberals or conservatives. It has to do with a business' dress code, and if you check with our counselor from North Cackalakie, you will find that they have that right, and Frank doesn't. I love Frank, and I have a similar shirt and hat, but I don't wear them other than at a clave or fishing camp. He was wrong. Walmart (or whatever store) was right. As far as your "gullible rednecks" remark - Walmart supplies them with the only clothes they can afford. Your remarks smacks of elitism. To many, Walmart is a Brooks Brothers store, and you should not make fun of their customers. Dave |

It *is* offensive. Save the shirt for claves or fishing buds - that's what I do with my shirt and hat. Oh, yeah, almost forgot...... don't tempt them with your "**** happens" shirt. d;o) |

Methinks you might be best off just staying OUT of Wal-mart's.
My professional career - or what I did and still do a bit to make $$ was always closely aligned w the apparel industry. Wal-Mart at one time even utilized the made in USA label & slogan on their apparel but they would not allow their contractors to make any kind of margin nor their suppliers. They would squeeze the market till it popped up offshore w lower wages. They were amongst the first large companies to source off shore Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Thailand, China They didn't & don't give a **** as ling as labor was cheap and getting cheaper. Sweatshops? - they still don't give a rats ass! The American economy? They could care less! As long as the Walton's made money. Little or no scruples! Wal-mart was the leader and still is of cheap clothing , massed produced in the lowest wage places regardless of conditions and not much if little emphasis on quality! Visiting these factories or Dealing w the buyers in Bentonville AR? Its more fun to lay under your car for a week. I still believe in my initial statement re the fortunate demise of Sam Walton. Good riddance Stay dead man! I do not believe that his heirs any longer run it. It is run like any other greedy corporation. They treat their employees like ****. So why bother to take it out on one of them. They are not the "captains of industry" They just take orders from the top! You - personally (from these groups and your outrage at their actions ) seem to be of a far higher quality. You will find no real quality in there. So do yourself a favor and stay out. Wal-marts and others like them is a major factor in the increase of my on line purchasing. I do pay more at times but I pick and choose my quality of purchase and the purchasing experience. My family already knows I do NOT go to Wal-mart! Sincerely Fred -- "Frank Reid" wrote in message oups.com... The manager asked me "not to wear that t-shirt into their store again.
