Wolfie, Are you seriously suggesting that the voting public surrounding Lake Erie is going to sit idly by and allow the entire surface to be covered by little wind generators?? Hm.....well, I admit that it SOUNDS kinda like me. But no, I think not. If it were really me, it would be BIGASS wind generators! :) I suspect you would see significant opposition to even a fraction of that proposal. Unless I've been skimming all this too rapidly, isn't Lake Erie used occasionally for some shipping? Wouldn't those big boats be a messy mix to have doing various dance steps through the windmills? -- r.bc: vixen Minnow goddess, Speaker to squirrels, willow watcher. Almost entirely harmless. Really. http://www.visi.com/~cyli All generator can be "motored" and all windmills can be fans. Put sails on all those ships and in the shipping season use the wind turbines as fans and blow the ships around Lake Erie.. Use the surplus wind power from Iowa or the Dakotas topower the fans. Now you can save all that # 2 fuel oil the ships burn. |

But I don't have to hold my breath waiting to see whether wind power will work. It does.....NOW.....TODAY! There are thousands of such devices on line right now. More are being added every day and at an ever increasing rate. Power companies have taken not and are erecting their own. Considering the amount of wind that you generate someone should erect a great big one right in front of your face. WHOA! O.k., tell the truth now, you've been taking "best zinger" lessons from kennie.....haven't you? :) Wolfgang who can scarce remember a time when he was stung so deeply. |

There are ways...... Perhaps this will explain it: "Well, o.k., that may be a bit more amibitious (and politically suicidal.....not that that's a bad thing) than we want to get right away......or need, for that matter. :)" Wolfgang |

wrote in message oups.com... How naive can one be??? I'm not sure that the limits have been determined with any certainty just yet. But, rest assured, we're working on it. Look at the specs on turbines being used...the bladrs spin at 14-16 RPM AND the ends of the blades are going 180 to 220 MPH...... Hm...... Here's an idea. Why don't you give us some idea of whom you are addressing and what the hell you are blithering about, and then we'll see whether anyone other than stevie (who, as you have seen by now, doesn't learn) cares to explore the issue of just which flavor of idiot you are? Why do I have a poster made by Horizon and PPM that says "beware of ice throw from wind turbines, may cause injury or fatality???? Um......it was a gift from someone who doesn't like you? You stole it from someboy's underwear drawer? It's actually a small Vietnamese pot-bellied pig and you should stop smoking whatever that **** is? Send me an email, I'd be glad to send you a picture of the poster they put all over in Tug Hill NY this winter. Send me some cash. I'll be happy to post a thank you note right here. Anne I think you are going to fit in just beautifully here, Anne, and we are going to have SUCH fun together! :) Wolfgang |

He has no engineering education, expertise, or intuition, but he has all the answers. You wouldn't say that if you ever read anything I wrote. It's hilarious. Yeah, rage, hilarity, they can be awfully hard to tell apart. :) Wolfgang the boy just WILL NOT learn. |

With data, no less. Where does that make them an idiot? Why do I have a poster made by Horizon and PPM that says "beware of ice throw from wind turbines, may cause injury or fatality???? Um......it was a gift from someone who doesn't like you? You stole it from someboy's underwear drawer? Your response is not furthering your point, Wolfie. I'm not picking on you, but expecting something a bit more germane than the sort of knee-jerk attacks on anyone who dares post an opposing point of view. Anne I think you are going to fit in just beautifully here, Anne, and we are going to have SUCH fun together! :) Wolfgang Hell, if it comes down to actually presenting facts, we might have serious fun. Thus far, she would seem to be eating your argument for breakfast.....but, it is early in the process, so I withold any conclusive judgement....... Tom .....rage, hilarity and noble intent are all well and good, but the problem discussed is real(energy usage and production) and facts beat hyperbole, at least to this mind. Thus far, your idea is short on details, long on hyperbole, Wolfie. I keep waiting for practical, or even reasonably possible wind solutions for providing North America's electrical power needs. Like I said, I almost feel guilty for attacking you, as I know your intentions are positive(at least regarding power supply, not necessarily those aimed toward RW, Ken or Rick). Still, the rhetoric you've used in this "debate" has bordered on juvenile, with a mix of Connor-style pedantic. |

With data, no less. Where does that make them an idiot? Them? I tought I was addressing an individual named Anne. At any rate, I think that doesn't make her an idiot. I have no idea of how she came to be an idiot. However, stating that blades on a wind driven generator turn at 14-16 RPM and that the resulting speed at the ends of those blades is in the range of 180-200 miles per hour does not address my proposal. All I've proposed is that more use be made of wind driven generators. If you see a connection that I'm missing, I'd be glad to know what it is. Why do I have a poster made by Horizon and PPM that says "beware of ice throw from wind turbines, may cause injury or fatality???? Um......it was a gift from someone who doesn't like you? You stole it from someboy's underwear drawer? It's actually a small Vietnamese pot-bellied pig and you should stop smoking whatever that **** is? once again, the poster would seem to be sharing a public safety warning regarding wind turbines in current use. She asked why she has a particular poster. I gave it my three best guesses. Your response is not furthering your point, Wolfie. My point is in fields across the country, and in many others. Wind works. I'm not picking on you, but expecting something a bit more germane than the sort of knee-jerk attacks on anyone who dares post an opposing point of view. Something more than being amused at exaggeration? Something more detailed than, "See what France is already doing today, and spend some money to improve beyond that."? Anne I think you are going to fit in just beautifully here, Anne, and we are going to have SUCH fun together! :) Wolfgang Hell, if it comes down to actually presenting facts, we might have serious fun. O.k., I'll start. Wind powered generators are coming on line daily and at an ever increasing rate. So, how many nuclear plants have come on line here in the past ten years or so? How many new ones do you expect to see in the NEXT ten years? And, hey, what's it cost to put one of those babies up these days? Thus far, she would seem to be eating your argument for breakfast..... Which argument is that? Is it the one where I said the notion that things with moving parts can be dangerous is nonsense? Well, yeah, I guess I might be willing to retract that.....if I ever have the opportunity to examine a thing with moving parts up close. Or, was it perhaps the one where I said that wind driven generators work? The one about more of them being used as time goes on? The one where I stated that more of them SHOULD be used? Or is it some other argument that no one has yet informed me of. In any case, I'd be thrilled to hear an analysis of how she prepared breakfast using any of those ingredients. but, it is early in the process, so I withold any conclusive judgement....... Hm..... Tom ....rage, hilarity and noble intent are all well and good, but the problem discussed is real(energy usage and production) and facts beat hyperbole, at least to this mind. Which facts? What hyperbole? Thus far, your idea is short on details, long on hyperbole, Wolfie. I keep waiting for practical, or even reasonably possible wind solutions for providing North America's electrical power needs. All the while showering me with a mountain of facts and concrete details about how French nuclear plants are better? Like I said, I almost feel guilty for attacking you, as I know your intentions are positive(at least regarding power supply, not necessarily those aimed toward RW, Ken or Rick). Still, the rhetoric you've used in this "debate" has bordered on juvenile, with a mix of Connor-style pedantic. I guess the problem is that I just can't come up with anything to counter the overwhelming mass of evidence that has been brought to bear against my case. Wolfgang who feels sure he could do much better if he just knew what his case is.....but keeps getting stuck on the notion that what he has stated it to be several times is pretty close to the truth. |
