i assume when you folks are talking about the october event, you mean
the graham county gathering of contrarians? if so, and if in fact some
will be packin instruments (of music), i might check with a few of my
friends to see what can be arranged for a ... a ... damn...(what the
hell ya'll call it when a bunch of musicians assemble sorta ad hoc like
and have fun??).

back in the seventies we used to call it an excuse to get laid.

how'd that work out for ya, uncle wayno? SEG

i
suspect another description might be more appropriate, these days.

however one *describes* it, some things never change, including the fact
that many women *are* a sucker for a musicain, especially one that sings and
plays- just look at all the butt ugly rock stars toting supermodels on their
arm. i seem to remember a thread some time ago questioning the coupling of
(****- what's her name?) and lyle lovitt. and jam sessions or pickin
sessions, whichever one prefers to call them, can make for a pretty charged
atmosphere. so, i don't think it's too different *these days*. ;-) it
still works........
(why do ya think i took up fiddlin?)

The seventies.......hm.......as I recall, it wasn't so much the
justification as the denouement that was of concern in this neighborhood.

Wolfgang
who had a guitar.......and practiced......a lot......but never played a
duet. :(

bzzzzt- wrong answer-

all kidding aside-
bluegrass, traditional, celtic- i love it all. and when a group of people
come together, each contributing their own part, and really make music,
especially music that you can *feel*- well, there's really nothing quite
like it. it's a very special, and satisfying experience.

Mount Pilot...

And just why would Andy and the boys want the town band to mount
Pilate? Some sort of kinky Babtis' thing?

Chuck Vance (misinterpretations'r'us)

P.S. -- IIRC, the town band was The Dillards in real life.

no formal name. just a friend, his wife, their 10 year-old daughter,
another friend and his wife. they played old bluegrass music (banjo,
guitar, mandolin, bass viola) at our watering hole. lane has played
professionally, but now works for pitney-bowes. it was a happy and
pleasant evening for me, among nice folk, with my family at the end of a
busy week - thus, "bliss".
