No, not saying you were insane... just anyone who thinks along those lines,

I was simply adding my 2 cents, and after trying to make sense of this
incendent after reading the article written in a local paper there and
without being present myself...I was simply sharing my experiences on the
delta and the people who live there.

Not trying to be imflamatory by any means.

I lived in LA for 22 years and was told many times before I fished the
Delta
that there are many rules of etticate which should be followed while
in
the
swamp.
1) Never mess with a commercial fisherman's traps...if you hook one,
cut
your line.
2) Obey the no-wake signs (they are everywhere...especially in the
sloughs,
next to homes)
3) Respect their way of life...many make their living there...
4) Realize that nearly everyone is armed in the swamp...from snakes to
alligators to who knows what...I was usually armed myself, w/ a 22 for
snakes. (I have had several charge the boat and try to get in)
I have been towed in many times when way out and desperate...I have
also
towed in many.
The Cajuns who love their swamps are some of the best people I have
ever
met...but when you cross their lines...watch out!
The article does not mention if Klein was not respecting a no-wake
zone
or
exactly what was offending to the man. I very much doubt the man drew
a
bead
on him for no reason??
Klein is from TX (which I am from myself), and we are taught early on
to
respect other people's property...I would humbly submit to the Bass
Organization to better educate the competitive field in the do's and
don'ts
while in LA if they choose to return. Kind of a "when in Rome" thing.

With all due respect Bill, when you live in a city every year you hear
stories of an 8-year old kid catching a bullet in the head from some
gang-rowdie just firing his gun "in the air". If anyone in the bayou has a
problem they have a right to call the authorities, not to discharge firearms
over someone's head...

Unless Shotgun Boy (and his neighbors) own the lake and access

it,
tough. Cowboy up and realize you have a camp on the shoreline.

camp
at a reasonable distance from shore. But close up?...I'd
appreciate

slow speed and no profanity, whether youngsters are around or

In California, you can wear a gun in unincorporated areas. You can
have
a
shotgun or pistol in the car, but the gun has to be cased and maybe
only
the
handgun in a locked case (softcase is OK). You can carry a gun in
your
boat, otherwise the duck hunting in the Sac Delta would be hard to
accomplish. That said, maybe the guy was POed about all the bass
fisherman
traveling 70 mph in a 5 mph no wake zone. Been out fishing the delta
when
the fog is so thick you can only see 50' and hear some bassboat guy
traveling 40-50 mph. If he kills himself is sad for his family, but
the
problem is the take out some innocent person. Just because you drive
a
Bullet, does not mean you have to run WOT at all times.

Kind of reminds me of back in 1977, I was a part time cop in Ohio. I pulled
a guy over for driving almost 70 mph in town no lights, and 3 AM. After I
arrested him for DWI. I found a 22 in his car and over 500 rounds on the
back seat. I asked him why he had all those rounds and he said Sometimes
when he canoeing down the river. kids throw rocks and he scares them off
with that pistol. He never got it back

the choice is yours. People have to realize that there are still illegal
things that goes on in the swamps. This aint no Club Med place.
