just in case...how about copying me with details. i'll be somewhere

thursday...we're to meet saturday at 11 in robbinsville.

I'll be arriving on Sunday the 13th, if the cricks don't rise,
etc. I've got reservations at Elkmont campground on the TN side for
Wed.-Sat. morning, but I'm planning to use it as my base of operations
the whole time (they don't take reservations any earleir in the
season).

Wolfgang is supposed to arrive Thursday I think. Wayne said he'll
be arriving Wednesday (is that right, Wayne?).

It'd be way cool if we could get a nano-clave together on Friday
before I head out Saturday.

Okey dokey. I expect we'll be on the water somewhere in the general
vicinity. ;-) Seriously, I don't know if Wolfgang wants to go chase
brookies or just whatever is nearby. We could hike up the Little River
trail from the campground (I'm not sure if there are brookies up there,
but there are definitely rainbows), or head back towards Tremont and go
up Lynn Camp (supposed to be some brookies up there), or head over to
Bradley Fork ... or ... you get the idea. :-)

Looks like I'll be "expelled" from my quarters in Tenn on the
18th...(frankly, the kindness and tolerance of allowing me to stay until
then is inspiring and undeserved g), so give me some idea how and
where to find you fellers on Friday... i'd like to meet another of the
texan variety...though Big Dale is a mighty tough act to follow.

YEE HAW! We fixin' to have us a chump-o-ree! :)

Brookies, browns, rainbows, carp.....hike, sit, jump up and down and bark
like a chicken.....whatever. It's all good.

I only wish that I could give y'all a firm ETA to help facilitate logistics.
My problem is......in a word.....Chicago. If you've ever driven through it,
you know. If not, I'll explain in detail later. For now, suffice it to say
that deciding what time to leave here on Wednesday (the available options
have been narrowed down to 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, 7:00, 8:00,
9:00, 10:00 or 11:00 p.m.) or Thursday (12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, or 4:00
a.m.), and whether to make a 200 mile detour around that ugly mother-****er
or put the pedal to the metal and blast a hole through it has given me a
case of the fantods.

The good news is that the dithering is more pressure than I can stand for
long......a firm decision (subject, of course, to the vagaries of chance in
a universe that did, after all, elect two bushes to national office for a
combined total of three terms.....yeah, that's worth a moment's thought)
will be arrived at by the weekend. I figure my driving time to be somewhere
in the neighborhood of 13 hours. Route, departure time, rest stops and
incidentals are, at this point, all flexible enough to accommodate
requirements at the end of the road. Advise me.....somebody.....please.

Leave so that you either go through Chicago before 4pm or after 7pm but
before 10pm. The Cubs are out of town so the Kennedy will just be suffering
it's normal over capacity traffic. However the White Sox are at home against
the Yankees to the area around the Dan Ryan expressway is going to be AFU
more so than normal and then of course the freeking construction on the
Bishop Ford Section once you clear the Sox's stadium.

Get off at North Ave and cut over to Lakeshore drive. Go past the museums
before cutting back over to I-90/94 and take the Chicago Skyway/Indiana Toll
Road to I-65.

Some destruction in Indiana but not much but some stuff on I-74 going into
Ohio so take I-65 through Indiana and KY to TN. Exit at Briley Parkway on
I-65 and take that East to I-40 to Knoxville and follow the signs to
Townsend. There was construction on both I-65 in KY and I-75 in KY but I
believe the I-65 variety is a bit more tolerable.

You have my cell phone number

I'm definitely no BD, but I've been told that I'm pleasant enough to
be around. And I'll be bringing some of the Blanco Brewing Company's
finest, so that should make me even nicer to hang with. ;-)

OK, so if we can get Wolfgang to agree to a time to arrive, and
Wayne K., then we could have us a regular soiree. :-) If folks want, I
can plan to hang out at the campground Friday a.m., until we get all the
suspects rounded up. Then we can hike up the Little River trail or head
out to some other water.

I'll give it a shot. I have a similar problem in that I can either
drive through Dallas (the most direct route) or go around it via state
roads. The positive for going through the Big D is that it's interstate
all the way (and a speed limit of 70). The negative is that it's
interstate all the way. :-}

At the very least, why don't you plan to be at Elkmont on Friday
a.m. If all goes well, we'll have Wayne and Jeff also arriving then,
and we can do some serious damage to whatever water is within driving
distance.

To say nothing about the damage we'll do to our knees and livers.

All of the above, plus I'll be driving a bookmobile. ;-) Look for
me in the (riverside) G or H section of the campground (cross the river
and bear right after you enter the campground). I drive a late-model,
light-colored Mazda Tribute (mini-SUV).
