Well, it's usually cold in May, nice in June, hot in July-August, and

cool in
September. There's another roffian that will be there from Memorial day

until
the Saturday after. Good time. Early hatches. Hungry fish. Bring a

woman to
keep you warm at night. d;o)

Sounds like a good place to hang out, Bob. I don't know about it from a fly
fishing point of view, but the Tellico is a very rich source of
archaeological information pertaining to the Indians of the Archaic period.
The Tellico is host to 23 excavated sites, with ten of them clusters around
the Blount/Monroe county area, and the Loudon/Blount Counties area, just
south of highway 411. It also includes the site of the one time Cherokee
capital, Chota. I'd keep my eye to the ground!! :-)

Settling into work and a Winter mode after returning from the San Juan.
Now's the time of year for me to daydream about next year's trips. Over
the past year or so, I've been aware of more friends and acquaintances
dying or become sidelined by illness or injury and unfortunately, this is
a trend that accelerates as we get older. This has brought to my mind
the fragility and shortness of life, health and strength. It's also
motivated me to try and put aside the "I can'ts" and make the efforts
needed to do more of the things I want to do before I'm no longer able.

Smokies, Graham, and Macon County NC in May or June. I want to go up

S-bird
creek to where it is just over the ridge from the headwaters of the

Tellico
River, then go over land to the Tellico. That might be a very difficult
trip, and would probably involve bushwhacking through the woods for a

piece.
Been there once before, but came in from another direction that involved a
long 4-wheel drive and a locked gate. Damned hard to get to and real

pretty
brookie water. Wouldn't hurt to spend a few days on other creeks in the
general area, either.

So I've daydreamed up a BUNCH of trips, hopefully most will come to be.

Gosh, you guys dream big. :-) I'm sure of one trip next year, and
that will be up to the Crowsnest Pass, Canuckistan at the end of
July/beginning of August. SWMBO has a high school reunion then, so
I'm gonna go along and flail about on the water while she hangs out
with her old friends.

Besides that, I'm hoping to get to the Smokies some time, and if
time/money permit, I want to go back to the Yellowstone area, maybe
staying closer to the Henry's Fork area this time.

In the meantime, they will be putting some manufactured trout in
the river at the end of this week, so I guess I'll have to be content
with fishing the Guadalupe River to close out this year. And bass and
bluegill season isn't that far away.

Bad weather? The temps get down to what, low 60's and no rain?

Darin :-)

Shows what you know, Darin. In a statistically significant number of years,
it has rained in San Diego County in either February or March. The rain has,
on occasion, been accompanied by nighttime temperatures BELOW 50F. Under
such circumstances, we locals have learned to just hunker down and bravely
bear the brunt of old man winter's tour de force.

Dude!

In a statistically significant number of years,
it has rained in San Diego County in either February or March.

It rained once about ten years ago. The ground stayed wet for a few hours.

The rain has,
on occasion, been accompanied by nighttime temperatures BELOW 50F.

If we hold an ice cube to the thermometer, the red stuff goes down.

Whoa, dude. Let's break out the windbreakers and wine.
