Well, Peter,

I'll find out, only problem is that the dollar is more or less dropping like
the notorious Frank Reid into water ;-) compared to the Swedish crown. So
I'm not all that sure it is the deal it would've been say ten months ago. On
the other hand I have REALLY good prices at the local fly shop AND they sell
Loop.

Willi was present for the worst year for heavy rain in nearly 20 years.

True, that was exceptional. Not sure of the dates of the Clave that
year, but it rained 5.92 inches in May and 9.0 (!) inches in June.

May is NOT, I repeat, NOT a typically raining month in PA(April often is, though).

According to the data published daily in the CDT (local paper) by
AccuWeather, the 30-year average rainfall for the month of May is 3.70
inches.

Average for April, 3.16 inches. June, 4.28 inches.

Large standard deviations, of course.

As long as I'm looking stuff up, average high temps for the second
half of May rise from 69 to 73, F; average overnight lows, 48 to 53.

All those numbers are for State College, about 30 miles WSW of Coburn.
In this kind of mountainous terrain, both rainfall and temps can vary
a lot over relatively short distances.

I know I got a distorted perspective when I was there, but according to
the weather station at State College, May is the wettest month of the year.

IJ asks--small trailer?? hell Charlie havn't you named the terminator
mobile yet ? [ guys he carries two extra 20 gal cans of water- two extra 20
gal cans of gas---steps to a second floor bed - and calls it small ] If you
can get a couple of them yanks to help you put up the poles and cloth
covers you will need two camp sites.
Hope you can make it-- they spend lots of time fishing from the shore in the
evenings so even old men can join the fun.

I hope so too. I'm planning on camping in the Keys with my family the
week before, so it depends on a combination of Penns weather and on
how much I feel like driving another 800 miles north. g

i think you would enjoy penns. it's definitely different than the
strenuous pocket water hikes in the nc mountains and the wide-open
vistas of the west. easy access and big fish. if the weather
cooperates, the hatch alone is worth experiencing. standing in a run
watching huge browns rise and leap for the bugs is unforgettable. pretty
country. the amish make it an even more unique visit... if you need to
set up camp, and can't find another spot, there is probably yard space
at the swedish indian carolina cabin...

for that, Charlie, you should basically be able to drive into the campground
and check in. Reservations would please the owners no doubt, but space
shouldn't be a problem that early in their season.
