Actually, there are vanishingly few C&R purists and exactly zero C&K

purists

who have made their presence known in this news group. This is one of the
two major reasons that the entire argument is so tedious and unrelievedly
stupid. The other, of course, is that there is no issue.

I'm pretty close to being a "C&K purist" I suppose, and I'm still here...
even if I don't post all that much this time of year.

That's an oxymoron. You can't be "pretty close" to being a purist of any
kind. You either are one, or you aren't. It's like someone claiming he's
a "dry fly purist" because he only uses wets when the fish aren't rising.

A C&K "purist" would not necessarily eat every fish he catches (no
matter how disgusting it might be), but he would certainly kill every
fish he catches (no matter how illegal it might be).

I dunno. I'm pretty close to being a wishy-washy purist, but I haven't decided
yet.

Right... which is why I said I'm "pretty close"... because it would be
extremely rare for someone to meet the literal "purist" definition.

Actually, you do bring up a good point though... I think C&K is the wrong
description, it should be catch and eat. That describes what I do. If it's
illegal, or too small, I release it. However, if it's large enough, I'll
eat it... with few exceptions.

Straight from the catching to the eating for you, then?

You probably meant shashimi, which I enjoy almost every Thursday when the old
girlfriend comes over for drinkie-poos with the current spousal unit (long
story, amiable ending ;-)

But it doesn't wriggle all that much...

/daytripper (love to see how you'd handle a ready-to-eat live pike ;-)

Not to put too fine a point on it, but if it's wiggling it probably ain't
rice.

Wolfgang
yet another testament to the benefits of a vegetarian diet.

I once went to a job interview with Hitachi, some years ago before I
retired to a life of fishing, hunting, skiing, horsemanship, politics,
and Zen gardening. After the interview, we went out to an obscure sushi
restaurant in San Jose. I'm a long-term sushi afficianado, and I most
like the more exotic offerings, like sea urchin and fatty tuna, but this
was something else. The Piece d'Resistance was a live lobster, carved up
and devoid of his shell, but with his head and various appendages live
and intact and waving frantically.

He tasted pretty good, but it went beyond C&K, or even C&E. It was
C&E&K, in that order. He was doomed, so I made the best of it.

BTW, I didn't get the job.
