distinguishes the MO Synod from any other Synod.

they all have to be shown.

Well, yeah, that and both the LARRY and CURLY synods tend to be somewhat
less endowed in the charismatic leadership department.

Wolfgang

rw:
Catholics, with their bleeding crucifictions, their Madonna, their
saints, their scary nuns, and their multitudinous sacraments, were
strangely exotic, like forbidden fruit. We didn't know about pedophile
priests, or even suspect. The other Protestant sects were graded on a
curve, from Baptists (bad) to Presbyterians (good). Jews were completely
under the radar until I went to public high school (City College).

I grew up in a small city that was about 55% German Catholic, 10% German
Lutheran, and the remainder distributed amongst the various other Protestant
Churchs with the required token Jews present. We were able to watch what
were nearly war-like relations between the Catholics and Lutherans, who both
tried to ignore and avoid the Protestants.

I'm curious as to why the designation is Missouri Synod? I know that the
MO River valley and its tributary valleys in MO were settled by many German
immigrants in the 1850's. The animosity between Catholic and Lutheran was
so great the the towns tended to alternate in makeup as they immigrants
moved up the rivers. Westphalia would be entirely Catholic, Koelpstown
entirely Lutheran.
