Meanwhile, a mere 20% of US citizens consider themselves Republican - a 3
point drop since Shrub's last day in office.

Clearly, you are having a positive effect, mr. beancounter. Keep up the good
work!

Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) locked Republicans out of the House
Oversight and Government Reform Committee room to keep them from
meeting when Democrats aren’t present.

Towns’ action came after repeated public ridicule from the leading
Republican on the committee, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), over
Towns’s failure to launch an investigation into Countrywide Mortgage’s
reported sweetheart deals to VIPs.

For months Towns has refused Republican requests to subpoena records
in the case. Last Thursday Committee Republicans, led by Issa, were
poised to force an open vote on the subpoenas at a Committee mark-up
meeting. The mark-up was abruptly canceled. Only Republicans showed up
while Democrats chairs remained empty.

comrade hussein sets a record........

President Obama’s approval rating dropped to 53 percent in the third
quarter
from 62 percent in the second, according to Gallup.

The 9 percentage point decline is the largest for an elected president
during
that period of his first year in office that Gallup has ever recorded,
going back
to 1953.

President Truman suffered a 13 point slide in the third quarter of
1945, but
of course he wasn’t elected to his first term in office.

At a certain point, a president must own a presidency. For George W.
Bush
that point came eight months in, when 9/11 happened. From that point
on, the
presidency—all his decisions, all the credit and blame for them—was
his.

The American people didn't hold him responsible for what led up to
9/11, but
they held him responsible for everything after it. This is part of the
reason the
image of him standing on the rubble of the twin towers, bullhorn in
hand, on
Sept.14, 2001, became an iconic one. It said: I'm owning it.

It is time for all of us to stop the comparisons of Obama to Hitler.
Yes, I know, it gave lots of liberals something exciting to do while
Bush was President, and a lot of posters were devoted to that
comparison.

But it's time to cease that particular fire.

After all...

Hitler was able to get the Olympics in Berlin.

roff has had resident idiots before, but none quite so clueless as to
think that the closing of these banks is a bad thing or that Obama had
anything to do with why they need to be closed.

As ABC News' Karen Travers noted on October 8, President Obama invited
to the White House a number of officials for a game of hoops:
Secretary of Housing & Urban Development Shaun Donovan, Secretary of
Education Arne Duncan, Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner,
Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, and 11 Members of Congress
(nine Democrats, two Republicans).

No women were included.

Not even Sebelius, who played basketball for Trinity University in
Washington, DC, and who had been asked that same week by Jay Leno who
might win a game of HORSE between her and the president. "You know I
actually made my college basketball team," she said as the crowd
laughed. "I'm not sure he did so you know, bring it on."

President Barack Obama has only been in office for just over nine
months, but
he's already hit the links as much as President Bush did in over two
years.

CBS' Mark Knoller — an unofficial documentarian and statistician of
all things
White House-related — wrote on his Twitter feed that, "Today - Obama
ties Pres.
Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24.

Took Bush 2 yrs & 10 months."

This news comes on the heels of today's news that Obama played golf
with a
woman — chief domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes — for the first
time
since taking office.
