Plenty of room on our Braggin' Board for new photos. We get several each
month showing fish caught with Secret Weapons, and our practice from the beginning has been to send a free lure to each person whose photo makes it onto the board. Just remember to drop that camera in your pocket as you leave for the lake, Henry.... I seem to always be forgetting mine on days when I catch good fish. Of course, I remember it on the other trips, but all I end up with are photos (taken by Charles) of me climbing trees to retrieve lures. Joe "Henry Hefner" wrote in message ... Maybe we can help make the waning days of this season a little merrier, and brighten up your new year as well. From the ranks of ROFB came our first field testers, prostaffers, and customers. A number of you have promoted us with your fishing buddies and your local tackle shop dealers, and we really appreciate it. To give something back, we've sponsored several events ROFB Classics and host its Web site as well. Now, we'd like to do something for individual members. Through December 2, we're offering VIP pricing, normally for prostaffers only, to ROFB members. To take us up on this offer, go to http://secretweaponlures.com, and click the "ProStaff" button under "Login" in the top menu. I just got a new digital camera for Christmas, so I hope I'll be on your braggin' board soon. |

So just when does the SW spamming stop?

Ya know , I have really really tried to be quiet in regards to this and most
of the threads lately. But there appears to be some on this NG that jest don't know when to shut the F%$ck up! Which is one of the main reasons I don't contribute much here anymore. To: the folks at Secret Weapons, Thanks for the offer. Wish I could take you up on it. Joe, you know how much I love to throw a spinnerbait. Especially a S/W! But you also know that I will probably not have much use for them in the near future. To those of you who jest can't seem to accept a gracious offer like that of S/W jeez I'm soooooooo sorry! And **** off. S/W's offer was in no way couched like some of the others I have read in the past. I personally don't consider their offer to be spam. Wish I I could hang around here to really raise some hell. But it seems that I will be spending the next 6 months in merry ole London. Wish I could ask that you all play nice but I know that is not in the forecast. -- David Norton "AJH" wrote in message ... So just when does the SW spamming stop? |

I see the main problem with spamming is that they clutter up your incoming
mailbox. So in that vain, we had one generous offer for a christmas discount on lures, and 25+ e-mails regarding the offer.... So which is worse; one that could be easily deleted or FIFTY replies and comments to sift through? Mike |

So which is worse; one that could be easily deleted or FIFTY replies and comments to sift through? So, without the initial spam we would not have had 50 replies. The problem is not with Joe's post, only. The thing I think Ken, and others including myself, have a problem with is people turning this group into an "ad group". I've seen this happen before. After time, all you will see is 50 posts about people's ebay ads and 1 post on actual fishing. To quote the Charter: "Money-making schemes, advertising, and other types of fishing are not appropriate in the group." I personally don't think Joe's post was completly out of line but I respect Ken's right to state it's "spam" (in this case, I don't think I'd agree 100% with that statement, though). |

I think it's a good idea that message boards and newsgroups be free of
commercialism. But it's not necessary for 100% rigidity; there can be a little bending and flexing. I think an occasional announcement or special offer, such as the one in this thread, is OK, as long as it's done by a REGULAR, CONTRIBUTING MEMBER of the group. Besides, those who voice their sincere complaints about it will help to keep such activity in check. |

You have my permission to spam me about SW both here and my private e-mail to your hearts content. I enjoy seeing what's up at Secret Weapon Lures.
