Staying at the Slide Inn also grants you access to the Madison River Kiddie Hole, which has a few nice fish in it. That was one of the attractions. I've fished MT before and I remember all the driving involved. Will be nice, if I feel lazy one day (or two.... g), just to drink coffee, amble down and fish, drink coffee, amble down and fish, drink beer, able down and fish...... It's looking like the Slide Inn and the Cabin Creek campground will be the two major meeting places - Slide Inn in the morning and the campground at night. Sounds like something approaching a plan. See you there. that side channel is fascinating...near'bout hypnotic. it also draws a crowd, but that's part of the fun. sit around, drink coffee, beer, whatever, yammer and fish. plus, there are some huge fish in there that will toy with you all week in a few of the really challenging drifts along the rocks by the inn-side bank. and in the evening, the rises are taunting...they really seem to enjoy frustrating us tourists. btw...somebody needs to organize an evening gathering with food at the slide, and at that polaroid bar down the road, and at that slab o ribs bar down the road the other direction, and...well, um...you know. jeff (overwhelmed by the memories of big sky) jeff |
