"tout" was evidently a bad word choice. sorry it was offensive as i didn't mean it to be. No problem, Jeff. I know that you didn't mean to be offensive. I'm interested in discovering great fishing trips that don't break the bank. Two of the most costly things are guides and luxurious accommodations. I can always do without the latter, and I prefer to do without the former if possible. I'll pay for access before I pay for comfort, and there's a degree of satisfaction in figuring it out for yourself, but maybe the best advantage I've found in ROFF is getting to know people who know what they're doing and are more than willing to help -- viz. Chas and Andy on the Kanektok. Also Warren and Bruce and Willi and many other ROFF people who have given me fishing lessons over the years. For those who like the comforts of a lodge or a catered float trip or guides, go for it. You have my good wishes and encouragement. For those who will tolerate more risk and discomfort and uncertainty, and who are (let's face it) cheap, I'm with you guys. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

I will suggest that if you have the time , that is really a great way to visit the state. When you see water, pull over and get out your pole. When you want to rest after a 20 hours of daylight pull off the road , put up your tent and take a nap. Will never forget catching big salmon on a five weight. However sounds like you had a great trip and if you have a paddle position on next cruise please consider my offer to join. Thats an interesting website. Of course, the people who can fish the
rivers in Kamchatka, Siberia, outer Mongolia, etc. are probably among the bottom 5% on that list... --riverman (not that I'm offering to trade places. Permanently, anyway...yet) |

Pearl Harbor wasn't really 'ours' when it was bombed, although there could be an argument made that the Naval Base was 'ours', but bombing military bases is not a new thing. --riverman |
