"Ken Fortenberry" wrote Tarheels that's "tar heels", big orange... Which makes my decision not to make a football bet with the boy lawyer this year seem downright prescient. I already owe him two bottles of booze and dinner for two while dressed in a powder blue outfit so I'd appreciate your not rubbing it in, thank you very much. you can't imagine how i regret not being able to get to the smokies when you were here, earlier. but when the time comes, it will be worth the wait. yfitons wayno |

Torture! After this shameful, incompetent, deceitful, ruinous performance, these ****wits have the gall to ask, "What's your solution?" The only ray of hope is that, according to the polls, the public is no longer swallowing this bull****. I think the tide has turned on this debacle, at last, with the public myopia. As I have stated elsewhere, the people responsible for dragging us to war in Iraq, in a fair and just world, should be strung up by their testicles and left to dangle from lampposts down Pennsylvania Avenue, so as to serve as a warning to others who would "lead" us in such a fashion. Those that supported, and still do support them, Um, it seems that would ultimately be all of Congress and the Executive branch, or at least a good bit of the upper echelon...of course, that does leave their employers to deal with, and that's gonna require quite a few lampposts and a lot more Pennsylvania Avenue. Maybe they could sneak the funding onto a environmental bill or something. TC, R ....ask not for whom the lamppost calls, it calls for thee...or at least a couple of thee's, er, buddies... |

There's a real 800-lb gorilla here, so let's not get our priorities out of sync. Let's all pull together. What we need is a focus group to examine the paradigms, run things up the flagpole, a real brainstorming session. But we all need to work together because many hands make light work and you can make a difference because a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Let's not put off until tomorrow what can be done today - it'll be easy as pie. After all, build a better mousetrap, and the world will be a path to your door. The check's in the mail. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall and not be able to get up. CLAP ON! CLAP OFF! THE CLAPPER! |

Solution: Immediately begin the withdrawal of our troops with all practical speed, as Rep. Murtha suggests. But apparently, Murtha was not so for it as to vote for it - 403-3 (with the 3 voting for withdrawal being Jose Serrano of New York, Robert Wexler of Florida and Cynthia McKinney of Georgia). From what I've heard, Murtha's "plan" was a scripted political stunt (as, of course, was the vote). But stunts or not, it does make one wonder why Murtha didn't vote in favor of the very thing he demanded and moreover, why it should require thoughtful and studious debate. And by the way, why doesn't the opinions of those with military records on general par to Murtha's, but who openly continue to favor the war, or at least oppose withdrawal, count in your mind? Why: Because our troop presence in Iraq is making things worse, not better. Well, as long as it's THAT simple, I say let's go for it! |

TC, R I think the responsible parties for leading the whole sorry parade could be limited to a dozen or two, if lampposts were in short supply. No need for excess pork in the budgetg Tom p.s. Note that I did state the caveat, "in a fair and just world", for the record, assuming neither to be the case, in reality...... |

wrote in message But apparently, Murtha was not so for it as to vote for it - 403-3 well, after his proposal(which entails several other steps after a withdrawal, with troops in Kuwait, etc) was *******ized into a blanket statement along the lines of "Leave Now", with nothing added, I wouldn't imagine he would be for it. Face it, that vote was nothing but BS politics, I don't care what side of the aisle you see it from......as Tom Osborne put it(he is a Repub, right?) "We can do better than this". That whole last couple days of the Congressional session cemented the reasons why most of the public ranks those bozos behind the bozos at the White House. Kind of like the old Firesign Theater:"We're ALL Bozos on this Bus". Hmmm, kind of applies to ROFF, as wellg Tom |
