oops. That should read "fly fishing" newsgroup. The point remains the same.
Online moderated boards and their issues don't seem to relate in any way to
this or any other newsgroups. It has been a fun ****ing match to watch, fwiw.

My email isn't public and i do not own it, rodbuilding.org is for the
public Rod Builder, one doesn't need a password.

Since you obviously have no clue about property rights, maybe you should
talk to a lawyer about your theory that this board was somehow *put* in
existence for the public to do what it wishes. Maybe, just maybe, if you
actually listen, you might hear the sound of something making sense.

And hell, even truly public property has rules one must abide to.

upset and trying to do more harm to Tom.

I'm not taking sides here and no one likes to read others dirty
laundry but there is more to this story than Mr. Perez is telling. Tom
seems like he went out of his way to accomodate somebody who was
trying to do harm to his business and just finally said enough is
enough. Plus he does have rules there on his board that were violated.
What's the beef???

No, they don't. There was an actual study some shrink type once did.
The more intelligent people are, the more likely they are to judge
their own intelligence and knowledge of a subject properly. The less
most often goof and adjudge themselves to be 'as good as anyone else.'
or to be superior to many people they are proven not to be.

Doesn't speak directly to your point, as he was studying intelligence
and testable knowledge in college students, but one (or at least this
one) can make the leap to from brain damage to IQ with little in the
way of pitfalls being a worry.

Now if we go to common sense, we've got a whole different thing going.
I've met some people on SSI who were so low IQ that it was astounding
they could dress themselves who showed a decent amount of common
sense. And we all know the converse. People of high IQ who think
that that's the whole story, so they must be making good decisions.
Or who are so immersed in their thoughts that they don't watch out for
traffic.

You're kind of new to this Web and 'Net stuff, right?

Web is all private property. Just like someone's home or office. And
they can say what they will and will not allow there.

Should his users decide they don't want to play by his rules, he can
do anything he likes to censor them or remove them (electronically.
Physical removal from the world is under different laws.).

Disneyland is open to the public, but the public can't run around
advertising Warner Brothers items. Try selling some Warner Brothers
items sometime at Disneyland. Watch / feel the censorship happen
Notice how quickly the property line approaches and you find yourself
outside it. Possibly being charged with disorderly conduct or
something other thing that'll get the police to help them move you
along.

The 'Net is more truly public. On someone's Web page I probably
couldn't say, "**** you." On many 'public' Web pages, that would be
removed and very likely my use privileges would be, too. On the 'Net
I generally can say that. Of course whoever I say it to on the 'Net
can come back with things I'm far to ladylike to type. Or the whole
newsgroup could turn on me (I've seen it happen. Sometimes been
amused and sometimes saddened when it does.). But I'd be free to say
it.

Read the news.newusers group. Really.

I've been trying to do it gently. It's only been going on a couple of
days, though it does seem longer.

No elections. They're sneaky that way. One day one just finds the
title has been awarded. I'm not sure but what I'd rather not have the
ducktail award, even though I don't feel I've earned that, either.
