And he forgot to report that dollar bill he found, too...
wrote in message ... Now wait a sec - I can't imagine anyone, in any administration or the public at large, being sent to jail or even prosecuted for having made the mistake(s) Kirk made. It has nothing to do with "free rides" or anything else. Tommy and Timmy, OTOH... that was another valid point, that NO ONE would be prosecuted or jailed, as Bill suggested, in either administration. I was just addressing the thought that a Bush nominee would have seen worse treatment. Tom |

He fired the guy immediately upon finding out, and then got a chairmanship nearly 20 years later. I'll rest my case. You are another blowhard with little but whining to contribute. Tom |

Tom Well, I think that they would have received much worse treatment by "the media," which might have translated into a prosecution. But in general, I'd agree that left to their own devices, with no press coverage to deal with, the IRS wouldn't seek prosecution based solely on a person's political party. I do suspect that both Daschle and Geithner got off lighter than, um, an average Joe, generally speaking. TC, R |

TC, R- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Yes I think it looks like both got off easier so far. And that is wrong IMHO. Too many of the upper class Dems talk the talk, but when it comes to using tax scams, charitable giving, hiring illegals, support for the public schools, racial discrimination, ****ting on working class whites and favoring American workers and companies. . . in their behaviour, elite Dems have a ways to go in walking the talk. However talented these two (Daschle and Geitner), however needed their contributions of talent are, folks who think they are beyond the normal rules need to be put on notice that a new sheriff is in town. Frankly, both claimed ignorance of tax basics that just is not believable. No, they didn't sell the USA down the river like Cheney did in his business dealings with Lybia, or Neocon Pearle did in his dealings with Red China, etc, etc. However, the country needs an ethics revival targeted on its politicians, Rs for sure, and yep, Dems tambien. Dave Ideology still sucks |

Same with Scottie, but it's been a while. Perhaps, teaching is tying up too much time. I hope to see him at Penn's, but somehow, he always manages to have a grad student at the commencement ceremony. Or, he just likes wearing that funny hooded gown every now and then... Tom p.s. Last I heard from Frank the Elder, he was unleashing an expletive-filled rant about 'liberals'. Hasn't returned. |
