I wish someone would stop making me read these stupid threads :-),

I'm really sorry Jon. It turns out *I'm* the guy who keeps making people
read all these threads and I had no idea I was causing a problem for you. I
promise to cease making you read these threads, and if anybody else asks,
I'll do the same for them.

Again, sorry.

I know how to nymph, both of my fish pictured here were caught on

And I didn't use no steenking bobbers either ! ;-)

Those were nice fish. I am curious about the strikes, were they
aggressive or subtle? A guy sure wouldn't need any indicator if fish
that size were striking with reckless abandon.

I was sight fishing. The fish were on the redds, one female and four
or five males lined up over the redd in about 3-4 foot of water.

The fish didn't "strike", they weren't eating, they would move any
foreign object out of the redd, a foreign object being anything that
wasn't an egg from that particular female, with their mouth. All you
had to do was chuck your nymph so that it was carried through the
redd by the current and one of the fish would get ****ed off and do
some housekeeping at which point you set the hook and hope you have
the drag set right. Really didn't make much difference what you
chucked into the redd, the guide wanted us to use glo-bugs, the fish
were obsessive-compulsive about keeping a clean redd.

Fishing over redds is not exactly my cup of tea anymore, it's legal
so knock yourself out if you want to and you'll get no grief from me,
but I'll never do it again.

The "forum" mentioned is not roff .... it's far more civilized than this
place

Civilization is over rated. Was there civilization when the wheel was
invented, and by extrapolation, the Delrin disc drag? NO. Was there
civilization when the fishhook was invented, and its follow-on, the Banjo
lure? NO. Was there any sign of civilized behaivior when Seidman tried

to
pawn off that bog water as scotch? NOOOO! And all of this, like the
Pirate's birthday, came before civilization.

Um......and then there was ROFF. Hm.....well, it ain't exactly like he
don't have a point or nuthin'.

Wolfgang
on the other hand, ya almost gotta wonder about a boy what identifies the
place he hangs out in as a cesspit, ainna? :)

Me too. Nymphs (BMIAF) with a six inch piece fc tied in behind the eye, and an
indicator (spun deer hair) tied in at the other end so the fly will be six
inches under the surface. I think the tie is called a para-nymph. Saw it in a
book. Looks interesting. We'll see.

sounds good. i also tied up some hybrid "bunnies".... i don't
know the real name for the fly, it is a western steelhead
streamer pattern using crosscut rabbit strip tied in as a tail
and then palmered forward. i've been fishing one on the catawba
with some success and so the experimentation has begun. also,
check out this months fly fisherman mag.... there is an article
by Cowens on a clouser using rabbit strip in lieu of bucktail. i
think i'll try to tie up some of those also.

stay warm big guy,

wally
