Sounds like Dave was doing okay with the planes and boats . . .and even a
playground. I'll bet I couldn't even get all that stuff for $40 per night
(US), all air fare included . . .they'd have to give use of the playground
free of course, for that price.

I did alot of investigating before I invested in this trip. I initially
thought I would do a 6 or 7 day float trip, either down the Moraine or the
Alaknak. The cost would have been about $2500 plus airfare to and from King
Salmon. But, I'm too old to do without a potty, shower, and soft bed at night.
However, for you "younger" folk, it would be the trip of a life time. BYOB

That is the biggest problem with Alaska (or Russia ftm) is expenses. The
airfair, especially from the east coast, is expensive, and local (within the
bush) is very expensive. Any of the well known lodges will be very expensive.
If you plan on driving around and finding places to fish, you could find
crowds. Any of the streams along any of the hiways probably hold artic
grayling, but if you can reach a place by road, chances are you will be joined
by others. The only answer is to fly into the interior and that is expensive
regardless your facilities. I guess a car-camping clave is possible, but I
don't know how successful it would be. Alaska is very crowded from June to
September. You would need someone who lives there and knows where the crowds
aren't.

Now you're talking, clavemeister.

Heh . . .heh . . .then there is also that pesky "money" thing.

If a bunch of of ROFFians from all over the world, including a poorly
paid teacher, can helicopter into a remote Lapland spot, I think an
Alaskan fly-in clave is not out of the question.

That's the "let them eat cake" attitude, with similar
givens. If that poorly paid teacher had 3 children
at home, two about to get braces, I doubt that Lapland
would be on his itinerary.

.. . .or if he had to pay taxes. ;-)

Ya know, I hate it when a warning shot across the bow goes right into

Yeah, my trolling motor was set to "fast and furious". I'll keep it at a lower
setting next time.

Some people can't afford any clave. Some can afford a very expensive
clave. And some people are in between. Does that mean a suggestion of an
expensive clave is out of the question? Attendance isn't required, you know.
