Most unfortunate, and extremely depressing to boot.

Are you saying this place would be less boring without Ken and Wolfgang posting?
Less controversial, maybe. Less confrontational, possibly. Less boring? I don't
think so.

I agree wholeheartedly. The intellectual tugs-of-war and goodhearted jabs
that used to happen here were a real source of admiration and humor, and I
used to have a lot of respect for different people's wit and cleverness. But
now, instead of looking forward to some people's responses, I just brace for
the inevitable implosion. Roff is rapidly losing a lot of its fun, and its
tiresome to see thread after thread become some sort of dare of how
vitriolic and assaultive someone can get, dragging out old laundry, dragging
out 'facts' and reliving old history. Its like arguing with on old
girlfriend!

Hell, even with all the unfettered condescention, people treated George
better than most folks are treating each other here these days! "Village
Idiot" pales in comparison to "stupid, lying, sanctimonious little prick",
among other things tossed around.

That wasn't a 10-rounder; I was telling him that he plays tiresome games
with people, and he was playing those same tiresome games with my posts. I
quit when Tim pointed out that you can't get that point across to him. I
don't do hate-fests.

One word for the whiners, killfiles.

I know I could killfile folks, Ken, but I really would rather not! You and I
have never had any beef, and despite the vitriol that is slinging about, I
still want to read your posts, find out more about who you are, and fish
with you if the opportunity arises. It just brings me down when they are
hate posts, and there are a lot more of them these days, it seems. And just
killing that thread doesn't help either, because the effects radiate out to
all the other threads. When I meet you and fish with you someday, I want
more than a vague sense that you are the guy who slings such anger all the
time as my basis of potential friendship.

And (this part is important): not liking the vibe around here is my point of
view. I'm not 'jumping on Wayno's whine wagon'; which is tantamount to
choosing sides in some sort of Hatfield/McCoy feud. I'm telling it like it
is. The vibe around here has gone pretty sour, and you're one of the major
contributors. I just cannot figure out why.

Well, if you consider Western Sweden to count, I'm pretty sure there was no

You should.

From what I gather.

Boat or wade stuff?

I guess I am supposed to bring the boat, but it is mostly wading from
what I understand. The boats are used more for access from what I
gather. I have seen the boat launches and they look more like they are
meant for rafts (white water launches) that are very steep. From what I
have seen driving along the river, people slide their boats down to the
river and then put in. With enough people, man-handling and ropes the
boats and trailers might not be a problem, but you won't be using a
vehicle to launch the boats. I am bringing the boat, but I bet it is
mostly going to be wade fishing. RW and JohnnyH(ightower) should know
better more than I do. I have only driven along the river as I drove
out to George and Glady's place and have never fished it. Below Orifino
it is big water and better fished from a boat IMO and the launches are
better. You see more boats and fewer rafts in that section so there
must be better launch sites.
