ha, ha, ha, funny......dem's, what a country, ea?
---------------snip--------------------------------- The explosive video that purports to show Vice President Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley snorting cocaine was shot with a hidden camera, RadarOnline.com has learned. And as the scandal grows, the lawyer trying to peddle the tape while representing the man who shot it has quit. Tom Dunlap, an attorney for the Washington, D.C. firm Dunlap, Grubb and Weaver has dropped the seller of the tape as a client. Dunlap said he is no longer involved in the attempted sale of the video and informed his client he would not continue to represent him. The lawyer said he did not want to be involved due to circumstances surrounding the publicity of the matter |

Appearing on "FOX News Sunday," Gates said North Korea "probably will" fire the missile, prompting host Chris Wallace to ask: "And there's nothing we can do about it?" "No," Gates answered, adding, "I would say we're not prepared to do anything about it." Last week, Admiral Timothy Keating, commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific, said the U.S. is "fully prepared" to shoot down the missile. But Gates said such a response is unlikely. |

Last week, Admiral Timothy Keating, commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific, said the U.S. is "fully prepared" to shoot down the missile. But Gates said such a response is unlikely. What if, instead of a satellite, the payload on the rocket was an astronaut (or Kimnonaut or whatever they'd call him). Would it still be acceptable to shoot it down? I see the N. Korean nuclear weapons as being purely defensive. They don't have enough fissionable material to win a nuclear exchange. In fact they may not have any functioning nuclear weapons at all. But the threat of them being able to retaliate with great casualties against any attempt to dislodge the leadership is all they need. "You attack us, Seoul (or Tokyo or Wasilla) fries" about sums up their strategy. OTOH, the threat to restart the nuclear reactors, if the rocket is destroyed, is a clear danger. As long as the Koreans only have enough material for a couple bombs, they won't be losing control of it... they need it all. But if the centrifuges start turning again, putting out enough enriched Uranium to build more bombs, then the chances are greater that some eventually will end up in people's hands who have no Motherland to defend. I doubt if Al-Queda would care very much if we nuked the Hindu Kush or Kandahar or the South Yemeni mountains in retaliation for a nuclear egg going off in Chicago or L.A.. So I'd let the N. Koreans launch their missile. Study its flight and its capabilities. Use that knowledge to build appropriate defenses, if necessary. Using our nascent missile defense capabilities to *try* to shoot it down is not without risks. What if we miss? Right now, through the use of pretty highly controlled tests we can make a case that we have the capability to destroy attacking missiles. Just like the N. Koreans can use the *possibility* that they have nukes to dissuade attackers, us having the *potentiality* of destroying launched missiles is of far greater deterrence than it would be if we shot and missed ( a distinct possibility), weakening the deterrent affect of the self-defense claim. |

BOSTON (AP) - Barack Obama's Kenyan aunt lost her bid for asylum more than four years ago, and a judge ordered her deported. Instead, Zeituni Onyango stayed, living for years in public housing. Now, in a case that puts the president in a tough position both personally and politically, Onyango's request is being reconsidered under a little-used provision in U.S. immigration rules that allows denied asylum claims to be reheard if applicants can show that something has changed to make them eligible. Such as the ascension of her nephew to the presidency of the world's most powerful country. "If she goes back to Kenya, she is going to be much more in the limelight, and that, in and of itself, could put her at a greater risk. The chances of her going back and keeping a low profile are gone at this point," said Boston immigration attorney Ilana Greenstein. |

WASHINGTON (AP) - One of President Barack Obama's campaign pledges on
taxes went up in puffs of smoke Wednesday. The largest increase in tobacco taxes took effect despite Obama's promise not to raise taxes of any kind on families earning under $250,000 or individuals under $200,000. This is one tax that disproportionately affects the poor, who are more likely to smoke than the rich. To be sure, Obama's tax promises in last year's campaign were most often made in the context of income taxes. Not always. |

the USA bows to no country... -------------------snip------------------------- The White House is denying that the president bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 meeting in London, a scene that drew criticism on the right and praise from some Arab outlets. "It wasn't a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he's taller than King Abdullah," said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The Washington Times called the alleged bow a "shocking display of fealty to a foreign potentate" and said it violated centuries of American tradition of not deferring to royalty. The Weekly Standard, meanwhile, noted that American protocol apparently rules out bowing, or at least it reportedly did on the occasion of a Clinton "near-bow" to the emperor of Japan. Interestingly, a columnist in the Saudi-backed Arabic paper Asharq Alawsat also took the gesture as a bow and appreciated the move. |

No good came come of this. It is indeed the culmination of the complete erosion of American diplomacy which commenced way back a couple of months ago. A once proud nation has been utterly and irrevocable humiliated.....unless.....unless......Well, there's only one way out. Now, who are we gonna find that's willing to do the right thing? Where are we to search for someone man enough and willing to suck it up, take the bit in his teeth, bite the bullet, and do what a man's gotta do? Where, I ask, are we to look for someone who will slit a nephew's throat and throw a few thousand dead Murrican soldiers on top of him to form a levy to stem the tide of this latest flood of......of......um......well, whatever it is that is now flooding in and destroying our hallowed freedoms and our cherished way of life? Where is the pride and the fortitude that nourished and sustained our sainted forefathers and led them down the paths of righteousness, now in our darkest hour? What has become of the manly passion that once enflamed the hearts of true men and led them to blessed acts of sacrifice? Why will no one step forward and make at least a minimal show of patriotism by hosting a nice little picnic lynching or a witch burning? I mean, it's not like there's a shortage of youthful fodder.....right? SOMEBODY out there MUST have a nephew......right? g. who knows that we got morons to burn.....enough to make fears of fuel shortages for the foreseeable future a slapstick comedy. |
