knows best", and builds their foundation for activism and "improving
the human condition" on that faulty premise. Because they deny the
facts about human nature, their "reasoning" is diametrically opposite

So, when citizens will not voluntarily comply with their various

The difference between conservatives and liberals on this matter is
that conservatives want to make the business of providing health care
better, allowing more competition resulting in lower prices, and not
mandating things like pregnancy coverage for a 75 year old male,
allowing more of a cafeteria type plan and allowing insurers to cross
state lines to increase the competition.

Liberals think that by the government taking over the industry and
regulating it to serve the needs of what the government thinks is
proper, somehow the 75 year old male might get pregnant, and therefore
that type of coverage should be paid for by the few remaining
taxpayers left in this country. Also, by hiring massive departments
run by mediocre government union employees to administer this
behemoth, the deficit will magically disappear.

this chestnut alone is priceless. You realize, of course, that insurers will
go to the least regulated state to write all insurance, thus hosing the
public across the nation?
You think those folks care about you, or your family?
Get real.
So long as healthcare is primarily a business, we will only get
half-measures. But, at least one party seems to care about the public. Don't
worry about those polls, either.
Note, carefully, that they deal with what the public THINKS they will get.
When reality turns out to be different than the fear, those numbers will
change. I suspect, when all is said and done, the Dems will actually gain
from this whole process, messy and ugly as it has been. Further, I suspect
most people will realize that a lot of the deals and other messiness were
due to holding together a plurality when one party unilaterally fails to
support anything positive.
