"Wayne Harrison" wrote in message . .. "Larry" wrote in message ... "Mr. Opus McDopus" wrote I camp for two days in the bowels of Upper Creek gorge! Op The "bowels of Upper Creek gorge" certainly sounds a lot more like a place that dictates precautionary measures to guard against catastrophic equipment failure than "Ten Million Tourists a Year ( 11 million of them fly fishers )" Jackson. Wy. my guess is that no more than 20 folks a year will traverse the rocks and water that jeffie and opie will experience. wayno My guess is that even fewer fly fishers will do the same trip as Jeff and I are about to embark upon. There are many hikers and youth groups (outward bound) that descend the Greentown Trail to Upper Creek, but I suspect that they stay to the marked trail and don't hike up the stream. There is no trail--that I know of that parallels the stream, proper, it's entire length up to the Falls. We will have to wade and rock hop up the stream for about 3 hours or more, before we make our first camp, and do the same on Sat., to get as close to the Falls as we can, so that the hike out Sunday won't be so difficult on two old, out of shape, non-hikin', non-campin' dumbasses! To make things interesting, I tore-up my left knee yesterday at a university sponsored event. I raced one of my shop mates, who is 14 years my junior and in much better shape than I, on an obstacle course. I may have blown out my knee, but more importantly, I won the race!!!! Got an appointment with an ortho surgeon on the 8th of May :~^( Op --I sure hope I'm able to make that appointment?-- |

Ken Fortenberry is correct: There is a Fawn Lake in the Crevice Creek area (page 27 lower left, of the Montana Atlas & Gazateer as RW has noted). Jeff is correct: There is a Fawn Lake near Fawn Creek and Fawn Pass Trail (page 23, of the page south west of Mammoth Hot Springs, Montana A and G). So, I call it a draw. You are both correct. Now, can ya kiss and make up? |
