I miss the folks invoved with it. Now I work one morning a week for the White County Meals on Wheels. Not quite the same clientele g but it keeps me out of trouble. Will do the Lowell Pantry when we return to Taxachusetts. |

Well, since you seem to be a self-appointed keeper of the flame, I bow to your superior judgement. As far as being 'taken seriously' by this group.... no... not going to touch that one. Oh well, you folks have a good time. Maybe I can find a news group that actually focuses on fishing. You'd think there was one somewhere..... Give a big cheer (or heave a sigh of relief) for I'll not waste my time or yours with any more postings to this group. If you feel compelled to reply to THIS post, realize you are doing so for your own amusement, or to cater to any sycophant followers you may have, as I'll never see it. Rec Outdoors Fly Fishing, my foot. \s Stick around, Steve. The sycophants and the Sisyphuses that haunt this place do report on fly fishing, and usually there are good reports to read. Wade through the extraneous crap and the place ain't half bad. Just ignore the left wing ideological boobs, and the right wing ones too for that matter. d;o) oh god, so much to say... but, if someone is driven from this place because of concern about sycophants and lack of fishing focus...well, hell, just load the gun, put it in your mouth, and blow that lunacy away. better to vomit a sigh of relief. smile at what is silly, focus on the useful, and breathe the life you've got. i say, caress the boobs...don't let them make you crazy (well, unless you're a boob guy...then it's a good thing, eh?) jeff (easily amused...but very appreciative of the amusement) :) And I always thought of you as a leg man! |

e blessed dave. we both have enjoyed a life beyond any "earned" justification. i frequently ponder why i have been so much more fortunate than a similar "really stupid" person born in somalia or haiti. i wish i could say it was something special about me or what i have done...but i know it wasn't. pure luck of birth. jeff I realized that way before you were born. Life magazine had pictures of the Rape of Nanking. I can remember seeing a small infant sitting in the middle of some railraod tracks crying, with explosions, fire, and smoke all around her. I realized then that I indeed was a very fortunate kid. In my lifetime I have visited some real hell holes - Phillipines, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, etc - that reinforced my thoughts of how fortunate I am. I would have to add a few other places to the hellhole list The DR the Zonas Industriales. Haiti, Sri Lanka Wherever the textile biz went is where i went before I quit I made money - sure - at at the expense of my health and sanity !!! I will NEVER EVER go back or even to Mexico City again much less anywhere in MX I would sooner lie under a car for a week However parts of Newark NJ and Miami FL, Detrout and even LA have the same look Fortunately I missed Hong Kong and Mumbai I believed then as I do now that we have a finite am't of time in life on this planet One need not sprend that time in Airports,in lines. on highways iIn automobiles and in large cities What a ****ing waste of time and life!!!. I used to get nuts about being in places I hated w owners of companies in "war zones" that I reviled Yet took to lunch or dinner Then later the fact that I had to fear for my life in APorts and traveling becaues of Osama, Bush and their cronies We arefortunate to have the chance to be where we are now! And we know it and appreciate it!!!!!!!! I do not miss a big city only PIZZA! NY pizza - yumbo! Were we born in Somalia or Haiti - who knows? I cannot even remotely imagine this. Lou Reed |

I have come to the conclusion that Obama has no power and is a lying ****bag like all politicians Whoa, now - I never said, nor do I think that Obama is a (or "all politicians" are) "lying ****bag(s)" - that said, you are perfectly entitled to your rather extreme opinion. Now, if you had said that he was just another politician whose mouth often greatly overloads his ass, we'd be in complete agreement. I said it then, and I'll say it again now - I see nothing special whatsoever about Obama with the exception of his being the first (known, obvious) bi-racial POTUS. Other than that, from everything I've seen and heard, he's just another (pre-freakout) Britney Spears pop-pol who happened to really hit the jackpot. Bush had more "true core" and Clinton had, by leaps and bounds, a better mind AND better political instincts. He's the left's answer to Reagan, but at least Ronnie managed to futz around and accomplish a few things between all the whip-'em-up empty speeches - his "tear down this wall" shtick, while in and of itself, was pretty much rhetoric, but he was also among the more prominent _public_ reasons that it did come down. We live in an oligarchy where the masters of war - must protect their inverstments Take out "of war" and yep, you pretty much have it - were you expecting something else...? I mean, it's the way the world works. War is great biz hence increasing troop strength in Afghanistan while doing little in Iraq except mainrtaining the status quo is grea t Dropping bombs that cost millions and we will replace w more millions $$$$$ ****in great business I dealt w guys who make miltary uniforms Some proft!!! No bid contracts llike Haliburton? Do we really expect to win these wars ? In Afghanistan come on!!!!! We could be there 50 yrs and they would only hate us more Um, who is this "they?" A fair portion of the Afghanis LOVE the US...I mean, if a rich stranger walked up to you and said, "Ya know, Freddie my lad, I just like the cut of your jib - howsabout I support you in a manner you'll really become accustomed to...here's a no-limit credit card - go abso-****in'-lutely nuts and don't worry about it - we don't pay the bills on it, anyway..." how would you feel about your new best buddy...? Then, there is his environmental promises and statements to the contary - he has as of yesterday increased off shore drilling thereby further destroying our planet Um, well, the short answer is, "No, not really..." If it's done properly, you drill in literally your own back yard with no real impact. When we pollute the oceans and kill tthe rivers we can NEVER undo this. Um, well, again, no. And in many cases, what "we" cannot undo, "nature" will undo whether we wish it to or not... Humans can create things but they cannot create healthy rivers and lakes OK. So why did you believe him or anyone else when they said they could...? Obama is just one in a long line of self-aggrandizing ****balls Just another politico w loud intentions and little substance Again, IMO, "no" on the former, "yeah, pretty much" on the latter...again, though, what made you expect otherwise? Hence as our chickens say Cluuuuuuuk Cluluuuuk Cluuuck I speak to chickens ! I am the chicken whisperer!!!! Frank Purdue TC, R |

You, and I suspect a good portion of the Tea Baggers, aren't angry just because Obama is black. You're angry because he's black and smarter than you. And speaking of people who often let their mouth greatly overload their ass - HEEEEERE'S STEVIE!! And IAC, everything else aside, why would _anyone_ be "angry because he's black" when he isn't "black?" HTH, R |

Tell you what, mosey on down to the Piggly Wiggly there in Picklejuice, Mississippi and ask your neighbors whether or not Obama is black. Funny you mention that... I spent much of the last coupla weeks in NO, and if any citizenry knows "black," "white," "bi-racial" and "mixed," it is that of New Orleans. And this very subject came up - not because of Obama, but Tiger Woods. And a man who knows himself to be completely "black" (as the descendent of gen de coulour libre) and a woman who self-identifies as "black" because as far as she knows, she is (a lot of folks in NO, both "black" and "white" in appearance, aren't totally sure if they are all or mostly either or even "Indian," and most old families of either "main" color have mixed-race members, I've no doubt mine included) said exactly what I've said - that if a "color designator" must be placed on Obama for general reasons (something I'm not so sure needs to happen, but...), he is no more "black" than "white," he is, at the very least, "bi-racial." And if while he can self-identify any way he chooses, any attempt to self-identify - i.e., cozy up with - with long-term US residing "blacks" is hypocritical nonsense on his part. The funny thing to many is that he is among the very few who truly are "African-American." Does the fact that a couple of "black" folks in NO think this way or that in this? No, but it damned sure carries more weight than an Illinois white boy's opinion. HTH, R |
