Flyline/Leader Connection Question

From: rw

Uh, no. You make a hole through the core, into which you put the leader
butt and bond it with Zap A Gap. It makes a nearly seamless connection
between the line and the leader.

Exactly. That is my connection of choice for trout fishing with dacron braid
type lines. Simple, slick, and I've never had one fail. I renew the connection
around mid season to avoid the hinging problem.

For the newer solid monocore lines, I use leader links.

For heavy duty use I use the needle knot.

I would rather apologize on ROFF than use any sort of loop connection.

I am convinced that what you say above is more than the truth. I have had
problems with Orvis braided loops, and I tie a terrible needle knot. Dan'l
gave me some leader links, but I have never used them.

However, SA just came out with a Line 2 Leader (L2L) connector. I saw it
demonstrated at the Fly Fishing Show at Marlborough this past year. I bought
some for my 4 and 5 weight lines, and will try them out tomorrow at the Rapid.
Hopefully the connector will act as a strike indicator.

I bought SA lines, too. I am through with Orvis' Wonderlines (it is a Wonder
they float!).

for sale?

Hunter's Angling in New Boston, NH.

http://huntersangling.com/

They are not listed in their catalog, but if you give them a call and talk to
Nick, and he should send you some. The leaders are $3.99 and the line links
are a package of 5 for $3.99.

I'm happy with the system. I'll start using it for freshwater.

Flyline/Leader Connection Specifically LC13

I'm faced with trying to hookup to LC13. Previously a braided loop nail
knotted and glued has been just ok. The LC13 is pretty thick and hinging
at the braid loop is significant.

It has been suggested I try a lenghth of heavy mono the same diameter as
the LC13 butted to the LC13 inside a section of braid. The braid is glued
in several places to the mono and LC13 along its length (6" or so). The
leader (such as it is in sal****er apps) is attached to the mono.

Anyone tried this with success? otherwise?

I have had the same problem with braided loops
and tubing, at the end of the tubing.
