Gilding the lily, as it were, but it can't hurt anything.

I'll point out that North Carolina's Research Triangle is every bit as
much a "hightech mecca" as California's Silicon Valley or Oregon's Silicon
Forest or Washington's whatever cutsie tech nickname they use for the
Micro$oft HQ area. In each case those areas make up only a small portion
of their respective states, are not the driving force of the state's
economy, and do not make up anything approaching a majority of the
workforce in their states.

Well, I know that is true with regard to California, and I'm willing to take
it on faith that you're right about the others.

So a strong case can be made that the west coast is not materially more
"hightech" than North Carolina.

Well, it's an interesting observation but it's going to take more than what
you've given us so far to make it a strong case.

In any case, we now have a start in addressing one of Mark's supporting
arguments......but it falls far short negating the point he was trying to
bolster.

I don't personally think that where I live qualifies as a high-tech
mecca. Silicon Valley, absolutely. You can't cross the street without
running into a high-tech company there. Where I live, there is really
only one major high-tech company. It's debatable, but I can't even get
the two stooges to read a simple sentence let alone debate something
more subtle.
EOT for me, I promise.

Ken,
You need to get off the Intel campus and look around a little. Although
Intel is the big gun in Hillsboro, many high tech companies in the area
aren't exactly small time.

I don't think that anyone has questioned whether the West coast is any more
hi-tech than any other region of the country, YET?

Yes, many states have hi-tech sectors, but as I pointed out *very early* in
this thread (I believe that I actually pointed it out twice: once in my
original post and then again when Joey posted his stats for California and
some other states), I specifically noted the unemployment rate in CALDWELL
COUNTY, NC and not any other part of the state of NC, the entire state of
NC, nor the rest of the nation.

I'd be willin' to give in to the belief that 'ol Joey is incapable of
writing a coherent sentence--which I truly believe anyway--, and that he
very well might have meant what Jon has suggested that he meant, except that
he never said he meant something different from what was accepted by myself,
Wolfgang, Cyli, Bob, and Charlie, once Charlie called him on his arrant
statement--twice!

Looks like you folks had quite a day today. Unfortunately I can't
access these lists at work so can't join in the fun until the evening.

So you've sobered up too?

Jon and Ken both have it 100% correct.

About what?

Joe's meaning (as claimed in his other post):

[your bogus claim] [of living in a high-tech mecca]

Your interpretation:

[your bogus claim of living in] [a high tech mecca]
"

You read it wrong and it appears to me that you and Wolfgang
are too proud or stupid or gutless to admit that you were
acting like asses.

Let's see, what has been said of late about name callin'.....Oh yeah, IT"S A
BAD BOY THAT RESORTS TO NAME CALLIN'!

I have no need to engage in ****ing contests with two
obviously reading challenged people who have no intention
of listening.

Which begs the question: Why did you return?

So this is my only rebuttal.

You got someone to write your rebuttal for ya?

- I did not say or mean or imply that Opie lived in a
high-tech mecca.

"Remember this started with your bogus claim of living
in a 'high-tech mecca'."

Tell ya what, I did this myself and it really works! Copy the abve
quotation to a blank sheet of paper, hand it to several people--they can be
office workers, ditch-diggers, rocket scientists or second graders, as the
answer will invariably remain the same--ask those people to read the
quotation, then ask them to tell you what it says to them. I know you won't
do this in an honest manner, as honesty is not really part of your nature,
but humor me.

- I assume that Opie knows where he lives and it makes
absolutely no sense that I would disagree with him on
where he says he lives.

No it wouldn't have, but yet you did, either because you can't read or you
can't process simply thoughts--I hope it's not a case of old-timers disease?

- If you insist that I am lying, then explain why I
posted the unemployment figures for the "hightech"
west coast vs North Carolina.

Who know why you did what you did? I posted, specifically, about CALDWELL
COUNTY, NC and made no claim other than to state that "knot (obroff) all of
us live in a Mecca of hi-tech." Even that simple statement has had you and
Ken J. flummoxed, as I wasn't implying that Ken lived in a Mecca of hi-tech,
since I haven't the slightest idea of where Ken resides. I was merely
sayin' that not all people, in general, live in an area where wages and
employment are high.

Last word of advice, and yes I'm sure you'll both have
snide little comments throughout. You might want to think
twice before calling people names over reading ability.

Great! Advice from a MORON!

I did a little google searching and you both have a history
of reading people's posts wrong. Those in glass houses
and all that.

Please, post two, just two posts, (Fawn Lake Threads don'tt count, for
obvious reasons-- that will probably escape you) *in the last two years
(7/13/2006-7/13/2004, or in any other two year stint)* where I have gotten
in an argument over someone's ability to read. Now don't come up with a
silly account of where I correct the spelling in an individual's post.

If you come up with just two VALID (I'll let anyone besides Ken J be the
arbiter) posts where I have actually questioned someone's ability to read, I
will apologize, right here on ROFF, to you, Ken and Jon, and further admit
that I am the world's biggest MORON still living!

Oh and yeah, you can try to fool yourselves all you want,
but even you know that you both ****ed up.

No, we know nothing of the sort.

Everyone else,
or at least everyone else who wasn't disgusted by all this
stupidity, knows that you two ****ed up too.

Does that include Cyli, Bob, and Charlie? Remeber, they kinda took your
post in the same way that Wolfgang and I did.

Learn how to ****in' read, you morons!!!

More nasty name callin'! Boy is your mommy gonna be ****ed!

Love,
Op

Maybe "Joey" was still confused when he wrote that line--if he ever,
actually, wrote that line--and thought he was writing "I never said that you
didn't live in a high-tech mecca. I would assume that you don't know where
you live. "

Your interpretation makes absolutely no sense in context.

Below is a post from Joey--not the date--take note of the 5th (numbered)
line down. In light of the fact that Joey said he took the statement,
numbered 4, "Op --being right-handed, I can see that you wouldn't
understand that knot (obroff) all of us live in the Mecca of hi-tech--",
how can you CONTINUE to defend that Joey knew exactly what I said/meant?

All of this is in context with the earliest part of the thread.

1) I've never seen anyone both top and bottom post at the same time.

2) Listen dickhead, is that better? I don't generally like to call names,
but it seems to be all you understand.

3) The question was, what did you mean by?

4) "Op --being right-handed, I can see that you wouldn't
understand that knot (obroff) all of us live in the Mecca of hi-
tech--".

5) *I took it one way* and instead of explaining yourself you called
names. I pointed out that you still hadn't explained what
you meant and you came back calling names again. Still not
explaining what you really meant.

You can read the entire text of Joey's post at: http://tinyurl.com/h2ofv

You can
fixate on one ambiguous sentence, but within the conversation it's
obvious what he meant. Why would he post employment statistics for
the west coast vs NC if he thought you were talking about yourself?

Only Allah knows, I guess?

He was clearly trying to show that the high-tech west coast had higher
unemployment than NC. You can dispute that his data shows anything,
but it's obvious what he was talking about.

To you and Jon, maybe?

You misread what was written and called names based on your mistake.

No, whether or not I misread Joey's flawed writing, I didn't call names for
that reason. I called Joey a MORON because that's what I believe him to be!

IMHO you were wrong. A real man would have apologized by now.

I contend you have done the same. So when so you plan to apologize? I want
to be here to accept you apology personaly!

I'd say that you just described about 90% of the nations working class
