Western Conclave Update
"Willi" wrote... Mike Makela wrote: Ahh the challenge..a more delicate presentation. I'll have to try to work out some of the 15+years of bad habits. I wouldn't say more delicate, just different for the different types of water. Many of the Rockie's rivers are more burly than Penns. Heavier current, more boulders, etc. Lots of different types of water to fish. Do they prefer a touch of movement on the surface (invoked.. not drag) or a dead drift? or just depends fish to fish? Ya coming to Penns? I know you seemed to be on the fence about it.. Still on the fence. The weather worries me. And there's Belize. What worries you about Belize? -- TL, Tim who has visions of Willi waking up in a cold sweat screaming, "AHHHHHH, SAID MUSA!!" ------------------------ http://css.sbcma.com/timj |

Kinda figured the stoneflies would be a good place to start, ya coming

Some dry flies I've had luck with:
PARACHUTE ADAMS |

From my experience in September two years ago... stay outta the park if
you are trying to hurry anywhere... very crowded and very slow moving everywhere I saw on the western side... I've gotta believe it was as bad in the more popular entrances to the east. have you checked flights to idaho falls? jeff Big Dale wrote: Mike wrote:snip Looks like most everything goes through Dallas too, guess they had to do something with that wasteland besides siphoning all of the oil out of the ground and barbequing some crimnals. When I lived in Austin a few years ago and knew a guy that traveled a good bit and Charlie always said that if you were in Austin and had to go straight to hell, you had to change planes at D/FW. As I remember the drive from Jackson to Clave Central area thru Idaho was further in miles but shorter time than going thru the park when you consider all the stops for buffalo. That drive takes longer in August, or at least it did a couple of years ago. That also might depend on which roads in the park have the most construction this summer. I suspect Warren will have better information on that in a few months. Big Dale |

Everyone tie up some completely idiotic fly; something that doesn't look like anything at all....crystal flash wrapped around some hares ear post, with a short orange tail and 3 legs made from deer hair, or something. The rule is that it has to be on a #16 hook, can't be more than 1/2 inch long, and has to be castable. Then put them in envelopes and draw them out. Whoever catches the most (or any) fish on their funnyfly gets some sort of prize. :-) --riverman |
