A Sad, Sad Message in my Mail
I just received this email.
"Dear Mr. Cleveland, I am a close personal friend of Nancy Anderson whom you may know as "Cyli". I was with her today in the nursing home she is at and she requested I contact you concerning her situation. Sadly, Nancy passed away Tuesday evening at 10 pm. She had long been suffering with cancer. I was with her near the end and she was sleeping peacefully. I found you via the posts in rec.outdoors.fishing.fly. I am sorry to bring this news. I will miss her dearly. If I can be of service feel free to contact me at this email address. Sincerely, AA" I'm speechless right now. I'll try to post more later. g.c. |

Whoa.
Cyli's calm demeanor in this nuthouse (and r.b.) was always a wonder to me, though I never met her. Here's to hoping the squirrels are speaking to her, and that the willows now bend low, weeping for our loss and her moving on. Bill |

Dear George, I'm sorry to hear about Cyli, I never knew she was Nancy Anderson or had cancer from reading most of her cheerful post to ROFF. My condolences to her family and friends. -tom |

Thanks for passing this on, George. It's indeed very sad to learn of
her passing. I've found myself thinking about the choices people make in deciding how much to share about what's going in their lives, health-wise, and where they share it. I appreciate and respect everyone's individual choices, but I am definitely thinking about the fact that I didn't know anything about her situation from her posts. I enjoyed her presence, here. |

Makes one reflective of the people we've been interacting with for a decade or so here. When Cyli was looking her maker in the eye, she still found the time to come around and say hi. -- Scott Reverse name to reply |

Um, well, I hate to break it to ya, Scott, but you're looking YOUR maker in the eye...you may just be doing so from a little further away.... And according to the email, "Cyli" wanted George to know of her situation, not the whole ****ing world...or even all of ROFF... And so, I'll not comment on something that I may not be supposed to know, R |

Nancy was always good to me here and in my private communications with her. She was a kind, gentle, forgiving soul as evidenced by her abilty to put up with all of our crap here. Ever the voice of reason and calm, she will be sorely missed. Her ROFF Bouncer jersey will be raised to the rafters and retired. May her feet be cooled by the waters she now wades. -- TL, Tim ------------------------- http://css.sbcma.com/timj |
