Penns Creek Pictures
I finally got some time and created a web site for a few of the
pictures I took over the the past 8 months. Sorry about the poor resolution but the server I am using will only allow small files. The pictures on the web site are about 100k compared to the pics stored on my PC that are 5 megs each. I lost a good chunk of resolution in the scale down process. I hope you all have a great fall season and as for me its time to head back to the sal****er and catch some stripers and after that I'll fish for steelhead up north. Heres the URL for the site http://home.comcast.net/~montaukbruce/wsb/index.html Click the Photos link then click a photo to enlarge it. Tight lines Softhackle |

I've never imagined a fish could look as po'd as that "Future of Penn's" little guy. Cute. Cyli r.bc: vixen. Minnow goddess. Speaker to squirrels. Often taunted by trout. http://www.visi.com/~cyli |

I don't think they were compressed too much for viewing on the web. When viewing them on a computer screen there would be little difference with an uncompressed image, IMO. If you had posted the original 5 Meg pix, only a fraction of the picture would have filled the computer screen. Willi |

What compression does to a picture is it strips it of detail. The picture will look great from far away but when you zoom in you'll notice the quality suffers. Compression gives you larger Pixels and a lesser amount of pixels per inch. So instead of 1000 pixels per inch you get 100 pixels per inch. The shots I have on my PC I can zoom in to the point of counting the individual hairs on the edges of the wings. I have pretty much the whole year of hatches for Penns Creek and over the winter I'll try to post some of them. Softhackle |

I'm using a dial-up connection during my move back to the U.S., and I'd never have waited to download a long series of 5 Meg files. The photos in 100K are well worth a moderate wait. Terrific shots of the variety of insects in Penns. That from-below pic of the female sulfur makes me wonder why more sulfur dry patterns don't have much more pronounced egg sacks. Very good stuff. Thanks a lot for the work you put into taking, then posting them. If I ever fish Penns, I'm going to consult these photos as least as much as Tom L's excellent shots of the patterns he uses. JR |

(snip) Tight lines Softhackle Hi Softhackle, I really enjoyed the pics on the website. As you mention later in the thread you have more pics of the hatches. I for one, would enjoy seeing some more if you have some time to post them. Sounds like you'll be busy with stripers and steelhead for awhile. BestWishes, DaveMohnsen Denver |
