You got that right. And why should they ?

Because if you guys don't recover from 2004, (hell some of you haven't got past
2000 yet), and come up with a viable candidate for 2008, you'll be doomed to
yet another four years of handwringing and whining.

Time for someone on the left to suck it up, strap on a set of balls and oust
the Clintonistas and start with a clean sheet of paper. Believe it or not, I'd
like to see a Democrat that I'd consider giving my vote in 2008.

What kind of La La Land do you live in anyway where the 48% of
the people who feel screwed, ****ed and betrayed by their own
goddamn countrymen are now supposed to act like nothing ever
happened ? Besides being stupid, that would be downright
unpatriotic !

A kind of La-La land where 51% of the people were rational, and felt Kerry was
so bad that they went with Bush, who was clearly vulnerable.

So get used to it. There will be protests at the inauguration,
there will be calls for impeachment, there will be hell-raising
from sea to shining sea and some of it will appear here in your
favorite fishing group.

And you can get used to losing governors and seats in congress, as well as
presidential elections, as long as your party shares your views. The protests
and calls for impeachment will only drive the majority of voters away from the
Democrats.

Interesting, obviously-biased list - some notables missing:

Bush, Sr. - served, DFC
Reagan - served
Ford - served
Nixon - served (and for almost 25 years, through WWII until 1966)
LBJ - served
JFK - served
Eisenhower - served
Truman - served
FDR - no service
Lincoln - odd short service (something like 2-4 months in 30-day chunks)

Bob Dole - served

and of course, what would any topic be without:
Hitler - served
Stalin - served

Well, a candidate who can garner 48% of the vote is "viable"
according to my dictionary and we're *all* doomed, but only
some of us are aware enough to realize it.

Time for someone on the left to suck it up, strap on a set of balls and oust
the Clintonistas and start with a clean sheet of paper. Believe it or not, I'd

Make up your mind, do you want to consider someone on the
left or a Democrat ? Hint: There is no "viable" left in
American politics.

And you can get used to losing governors and seats in congress, as well as
presidential elections, as long as your party shares your views. The protests

Yeah, the American electorate is hopelessly stupid and too
easily manipulated into voting against their own best interests.
I don't see any silver linings in the clouds gathering over the
future of our republic. That doesn't mean I'm going to abdicate
my right to bitch about it though.

In any case, I'd like to take this politically motivated post as an
opportunity to say thanks to all who have served in our military. I don't
see that as some kind of political football, but as a sacrifice I
appreciate. Thanks, guys Tim

Thanks, Tim. Blessed are the cheesemakers!"

On inauguration day, let's march down to the Federal Building, I'll carry

my
'Impeach Bush Now' sign, you can carry your 'Get Over It' sign. We'll

stage
a fight for the cameras, then go get us a well earned beer or 2 or 3.

You know, if we confess to some lurid, internet, three way love affair,
Jerry Springer will not only give us a well deserved beer or two but a
flight to where ever it is and dinner and a room and all kinds of free
stuff. And probably all the beer we can drink.

Bill Gates couldn't afford that, much less Springer.

Actually, one of the (many) things that made me gag during the recent
election campaign was Kerry going on about "defending" his country. Who
was he defending it against? Hordes of little men in black pyjamas who
were sweeping through New England?

No. Actually it was one wounded VC teenager who was fleeing for his life and
Kerry shot him in the back and received a SS.

The one thing I found absolutely shocking in Fahrenheit 9/11 was the
prtotests going on at the last inauguration that the press chose not to
cover

Dave, IMHO you really should give this a rest. It serves no purpose.
I've never served in the military and have certainly never been in a
"kill or be killed" weapons exchange, but I can only imagine the horror
and fear that accompanies that sort of situation. The political
campaigns to smear both candidates military records sickened me. I'm
sure Kerry did what he thought he had to do at the time based on his
circumstances, and neither you nor I will know for sure what warranted
his actions.

I disliked Kerry's actions after he returned from war, his stances on
certain issues, and especially his Senate voting record, but I see no
reason to question his history while in the military. In fact, at this
point, I see no value in discussing ANY of this. The election is over -
time to move forward.

Hmmmm. . . haven't there been protests at *every* inauguration? Probably
not newsworthy (read: violent and loud) enough to cover.

well, there was *one* little incident at mine, but it was relatively
innocuous, and the minister of interior placidity (gen'l j.m. roberts)
handled it quite effectively.
