Garmin 240
A couple of days ago I posted the following message:I have the
old--blue--13.5 Whaler with a new 40Hp Yamaha. Use it on the coast in South Carolina--in the streams and marshes near the ocean.Maybe a GPS/depth/fishfinder. I would like one that is easy to read--As I get older my eyesight is no longer as good.....This is my first search for help----Would love to hear anybody's recommendations. I fish mostly in shallow waters near OYSTER beds and really need a depth finder for shallow waters. Please email me at --------Fred---retired USMC---Thanks for any help. I got a lot of e-mails, etc----------I am leaning toward the Garmin 240--Is that too much for me??----I am new to this and need help--The local dealer is no help-----Again thank you for help |

Mostly under ten feet. It works great. I don't think it shows underwater trees very well, but it shows weeds and fish just fine. Its a nice readable display. I also have a 160 and a 168 GPS sounder. They are all good products IMHO. Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com |

Are there underwater trees in 10' of water?
You also mentioneed before that you thought you transducer wasn't mounted right. Did you ever get that fixed? My 160 is awesome compared to anything else I've had. Gonna get a 240 and mount the 160 on the front of the boat. -- Charles B. Summers Secret Weapon Lures http://www.secretweaponlures.com "Bob La Londe" wrote in message s.com... My 240 is tied into the transducer on my trolling motor. And yes there are
underwater trees in ten feet of water. Not huge. The biggest may have trunks about 10" in dia, but they can be very productive fishing some times of year. Its the trasnducer for my 168 GPS/sounder that I think may be mounted a little off. -- Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com All about fishing in Yuma, Arizona Promote Your Fishing Website FOR FREE "Charles Summers" wrote in message ... Guys, let me introduce Roy, he's one of my fishing partners, and he's the
one that's taught me more about bass fishing than anything I could have ever learned by reading. He's also the one that set my 240 for me. "Roy Randolph" wrote in message ...
