I saw this at ICAST and thought it to be nothing more than a fishing novelty
toy. I cannot imagine anyone seriously using it. I know I won't.

LOL. That's funny. There is a much better quality line launcher used for
cable pulling in the low voltage industry. Basically the same thing sans
the fishing rod. Even then those of us who run wire and cable for a living
have found it to be mostly a toy.

This isn't a joke, is it? Cause, if it is, I'm missing the punch line...

Unfortunately Chris, it's not a joke. I saw it (or an extremely similar
product) at ICAST where it (if memory serves me correctly) was awarded
"Best New Product of the Show"!!!

This gives me serious doubts about the fishing tackle industry.

Charles B. Summers January 23rd, 2005 05:08 PM

I remember meeting the guy that invented this thing is Oklahoma last year.
He had a booth across from Secret Weapon, and we watched the guy all week.
He's a very nice guy and has spent a fortune fine tuning his gun/toy, and if
you recall... I mentioned this when I returned back to Nashville. I also
picked up a ton of fishing line (10700yds) from him at a great price!

Still, even after I met him again at ICAST... I doubt that I'd ever have a
use for his gun/toy. He has sold a lot of them, but I can only imagine that
it would be for kids. You gotta hand it to the guy for having enough faith
in it to invest all that money. I hope he does well. At least he hasn't come
in here telling everyone that unless you own one... you'll never catch a
fish again! (If you know what I mean)

I never made that claim, of course what difference does that make, You
made the claim your Spinner bait was the best one out there,, I didn't
question that, I made the claim my rig was the best rig, not that it was
the only rig, I would not have put it on the market if it was not better
than all others,, same for my weight, and my hook. If it's not better
than what's on the market, no manufacturer would want to license any of
them.

Seems comical to me. I kinda thought it was a joke, myself. I guess I

.....some guys think re-inventing fishing stuff is like inventing warp drive
or something, for cripe sakes! %^)))

Just wait till the feds put a ban on this, just like those lawn darts.
One's going to go off by accident and snag someone's face off with a three
gang hook lure and sue the ba-jeezus out of this poor guy. I see a big fat
lawsuit for this guy!
Judge Judy will try it and the plaintiff will say "but I didn't know it was
loaded!"
Bang the gavel and there will stand, one penniless guy.

Kinda reminds me of last year when Judy and I went to the fishing show
in Chicago an some guy was selling the UFO lure. grin it was a crank bait
that ran "away" from you when you pulled on it so therorhetically (sp?) it
would run under docks snort. Jude bought 4 of em at like $4.95. She was
so happy about her discovery. I didn't have the heart to tell her once it
got under the dock a fish wouldn't know what the hell to do with it. LOL but
she sure was one happy off season, cabin fevered, can't wait to get out on
the water, what will they think of next customer. lol.

oh btw.. I think she threw them three or four times last year . . . No
fish, but a couple of Aliens were seen in the area taking photos.

I gotta say seeing as everyone is so down on this I thought I would take the
opposite side. Great for Kids...little kids, Throw a minnow or nightcrawler
on there and let them shoot the thing over and over again. This could be
something that keeps them a little more interested on those lazy hot summer
afternoons. I can't tell you how many times I have seen parents
telling(should say yelling) at their kids, don't touch it, don't reel it
in, if you don't have it in the water you will never catch a fish. watching
a kid fish with an adult and not having a good time is something I hope I
never experience with my kids. Not only does it create a lasting impression
on what's fun to do and what's not fun to do, but it might make a difference
in whether or not that kid grows up to love or hate fishing as a young
adult. There are quite a few people that think fishing is the most boring
thing in the world, when asked why? Most respond "what's fun about waiting
for your bobber to go under for hours at a time". To me that equates to not
having much fun when someone took them fishing as a youngster. Not saying
this product is the answer, but it might be good to keep one around when the
bite is slow..IMO..Ok enough rambling where is spring???????????
