Nice Lake

I found a nice small lake with really good camp grounds and grate fishing
it's called Silverwood in south California. I stayed there a few days.

That's nice. Dr. D, define "grate" fishing. Is that something done through
a storm sewer? Curious minds want to know..........

No, it refers to what was done to the fish before he cooked it. :-)

While he may have made a typo, he doesn't seem to a be a typical "I
found..." doofus. It's a Reserve America thing for a government
(State?) camping area. Not a SPAM.

I'd guess he's just a nice guy who's trying to tell people his
experience and is not accustomed to the 'Net. If it were within my
camping range, I'd think the place worth a try for car camping.

Thanks it's located in San Bernardino Mountains the lake is about 6 miles in
length. My kids and I caught four stripe bass 3 catfish and two coolers full
of crappie in a day. The rest of our time was spent testing our tri cat
fishing boats which we build just for lake fishing.

Any/all Striped Bass in California were caught off my beach here in NJ and brought back to
California.

Striped Bass are great fish both to catch and eat. Catching them in the surf is even more
fun !

Do you have more info on the tri-cat fishing boats ?

Yes please do tell us more about the boats.
I'm going to be in the market for a small - mid size boat next year at tax
time (I hope)

Would like something that can easily run from lakes and ponds to out on the
bay.

HEY this gets even better! I support people with disabilities of all sorts
and many of the folks that receive my supports like fishing too! (I have a
job where I can fish regularly while at work)
have you got any pics?
I am wondering if by handicapped you mean you have a wheel chair or are
talking about something different. This is the kind of adaptive equipment I
could sink my teeth into.

what do you use for motor? Is the boat fiberglass or aluminum? how does it
handle? What type of adaptations were necessary for whatever your disability
and could it be individually adapted to other peoples specific challenges?

I would love to see some pics of what you came up with.

Thank Dr.
I looked up information on the lake and since it is well within my
driving range I am making reservations to try it out next weekend.
How is the fishing pressure there?

I own the second largest fishing site in southern california, and I
think this will be a good trip to do a review of the lake and area.
If anyone is interested I will post a link to the review when I am
finished.

These tri cats were made in my garage after 2 years of looking at a lot of
boats, and plans for boats. We did this because I am handicap so I needed a
boat to fit me like my wheel chair.

Each deep V hull is 10 feet in length and 24” wide ¼” of tempered aluminum
plate as is the deck; it has two chairs one forward and one a stern. The
controls are the same as my chair except for the accelerator which is
operated left-handed. All the fittings are stainless steel. John a friend
next door and my son did most of the work; I did the jigs to make the hulls
and some of the arc welding.

We also had to modify boat trailers for them. I have no pictures. If you
like I can tell you were to get the parts. Thou it would cost less to get a
ready made deep V bout for your trip. Oh the out board is an old 15hp sea
king. sorry it's late and i'm tired it's beeen a long day.
