So far we have 6 takers but obviously the more the merrier.
Booking boats and accommodation will be your own responsibility but if
you have any questions then please email me.
I think anyone who has attended one of our gatherings in the last few
years will tell you that we have enormous fun, good food and good
company and some of us even manage to catch a few fish :-)
Be great to see a few more to make up the numbers!
Cheers,
Alec

Hi Alec,

Make sure, this year, that you don't just *give* the fish to the chef.
Make the bugger pay forr them because they make a decent (or indecent)
profit on their "locally caught" trout. I reduction in your hotel bill
would be appropriate.

Negotiate - that is the answer.

Have a good time anyway.

Hi,

I just noticed the part about booking boats - anyone have a spare place?
Or can one book a boat for one person.

Charles, yes, you could book a boat on your own and there are no spare
places. What we could do is to take it in turns to do a bit of bank
fishing so everyone gets a boat trip out of it. I'm sure the others will
agree with me on this. Other alternative is to find another taker for
the meeting.
Come along anyway!

Alec,

Cheers mate. I will be attending as I have a romme booked for the friday
and saturday nights. I am hoping to get the chancellor to attend but I
am unsure. Even if she does come she will not be fishing.

I am quite chilled about the weekend and will try to fit in with the crowd.

don't worry, we're quite harmless, and don't bite. Neither do the fish.
Unless you throw bright orange pillowcases at them, do they Andy?

am very much looking forward to this weekend- due to other things cropping

Charles,
I have been getting confused! (Must be my age!) I realise now that you
are the guy who asked about our meeting back in January. Therefore you
are the sixth not the seventh taker. Therefore there will be a place on
a boat for you as I have booked 3 boats. Reg and myself on one, Andy and
his mate on another and you have the delights of sharing with Dave Lane.
I am sure that you'll be very happy together. And don't worry "Billy

If you want to catch a few bring some Boobys and an Aquasink Line.

Wasn't it Alec powell who asked:

And, Andy....fill us in on preferred flies/lures etc. Are we supposed to be
stocking up with boobies or "real" flies?

Well... I shall have my usual selection:

Approximately 1000+ flies consisting of different patterns of Dries, Wets,
Lures and other monstrosities
3 x 10' rods (may add another just in case)
4 x reels plus an additional 8 spare spools all loaded with different Weight
Forward or Shooting Head lines
8 x spools of tippet all different strengths of fluorocarbon & copolymer
New boat seat to save my aching back

Of course..... I'll spend the first 2 hours trying to decide what setup and
flies to use ;o)

Alec, (who hopefully will be there mid Friday afternoon - usual spot in the
bar?)

Yep.... prolly arrive around that time too give or take.

Seriously, for choice of flies, my mate Alan (who's coming along) was
chatting with a guy who fishes Brenig regularly in the Welsh Fly-fishing
Team and he basically said that if you want to catch more fish then it's a
fast sinking line and boobies!
If you want to have more fun then dries if the conditions are right or wet
flies just below the surface, such as Kate Mclaren, Hoppers, Bibio, Black &
Peacock Spider etc.
Another chap I was chatting to at Fishtec said that one of the guy's who
works for them always does well at Brenig with sinking lines and Blobs.

Who knows? Who really cares? If I catch I'll be happy. If I don't catch,
I'll still be happy. It's a good weekend break, great day out, lovely
location and good company. What more could one ask for?

See you all soon,

Andy

Hi Andy,

Is this a fishing trip or WAR ??? :-)

The sinking line and boobies may do very well. Paul Edwards and I had
some good sport down by the dam using a buoyant fly - a deer-hair sedge
tweaked across the surface. CDC flies will also do well if there is
surface action.

Have a good trip.

hot and steamy

That's the way us Southerners love it :-)
Any chance of any "Sheilas" for Diamonds?
See you tomorrow
Alec

Ah - those are memories to be treasured.

Behave yourselves won't you, and have a great weekend.

I intend to misbehave badly and have a great weekend...it's the *only* way

Do you really mean to misbehave badly?

Surely that means that you will behave well!

As a newcomer I will probably not be able to tell which.

BTW Does anyone play backgammon? I could bring my board.

I hope to get down fairly promptly on Friday aftternoon.

Easily recognised fat, balding, walks with a limp has lots of Greys
tackle including a landing net (hardly used - like new LOL)

I'm on my way, or will be in the morning.

I shall call in Brenig on the way to sort out the best methods, as before.

It worked for Alec & me.

Good on you Reg !

How are you keeping these days ? I'm sure there will be some humour,
some of which will be at your expense. Wish I could be there with you.

What was it the little lady said " If you stuffed diamonds up your a**e
you'd still be moaning". Your "shocked" expression was unforgettable.

What the hell am I doing here in South Wales ?????????

Well if -you- don't know...

Have fun chaps; twice if you can manage it ;-)

I may have to go and catch a couple in sympathy. I've a couple of hours free
tomorrow but nowhere near enough to get to N Wales.

May your hangovers be smaller than your catches.

Cheerio,
