roff photo essays
Thanks to Chuck, Jeff, Joel, Mark, and Wolfgang for contributing some
fine photo essays for all of roffdom to enjoy. These are all posted at http://css.sbcma.com/timj/roffpics/ and I've made some refinements for easier viewing. Once you open any of the collections and click on a photo to view the larger shot, the photo will appear in a new browser window. This was done so you don't reload the original page each time between viewing photos. Anyone else who has some photos to share with the group can email them along with any trip report to timj at sbcma dot com and I'll post them up. This is turning out to be a good way to have a common place for this stuff. -- TL, Tim ------------------------ http://css.sbcma.com/timj |

And, not that I am complaining, mind ya, you got the primary TR, but my photo explanations didn't accompany the pics? Thanks again. Mark |

I tried that before I sent in my reply post, but nada? Neither with thumbnail or larger photos? Could it possibly have something to do with my 'puter settings? Where *EXACTLY* are the words supposed to appear? They should appear right under the pointer in a little pop-up box. If the mouse is moving, the alternate text won't appear, so it must be perfectly still. I tried that before I sent in my reply post, but nada? Neither with thumbnail or larger photos? Could it possibly have something to do with my 'puter settings? I don't think there's a browser setting. Maybe it's pibkac. ;-) Is anyone else having that problem? -- TL, Tim --------------------------- http://css.sbcma.com/timj/ |

Maybe it's pibkac. ;-) Is anyone else having that problem? You're expecting a non-standard feature to work the same in all browsers. The alt attribute is not intended to be displayed in a popup when you hover over an image. That's for text to display while an image loads or if the user has image display disabled. What you're looking for is the 'title' attribute. Here's the cross browser way to do what want: IMG src="an_image.jpg" alt="some text" title="the same or other text" -- Stan Gula http://gula.org/roffswaps |

Yeah, well I was also expecting to see Kevin Vang tied to Liz Hurley, but that didn't work out either. The alt attribute is not intended to be displayed in a popup when you hover over an image. BTW, wayno or Jeffie, how do you go about appealing a restraining order? step one: send all disposable funds to my law account. step two: i'll get in touch with her people and get back to you; probably for more of step one. yfitons wayno -- reply to: kevin dot vang at minotstateu dot edu |

"Tim J." wrote in message ... TL, Tim Honestly Tim, I wasn't trying to make your life more difficult, as I couldn't begin to do what you have done--in life or on ROFF. However, I though that several of the pics (particularly, the one of the cable rapped around the pointy rock) were pointless without the explanation. Others might have gotten by on there own? Anyway, if I had a say in this, I'd go with the text below the thumbnail pic, as the entire explanation still doesn't appear when the pic is paused upon... It's your site and I won't put my two scents in again. Thanks again for your hard work! Mark |

It's like living in hell, only in a parallel universe where hell is MUCH worse than earth-hell. It's like army ants crawling into every orafice imaginable. It's like War of the Worlds, only it's just me. It's like an unbarbed fliy you've cast into your own arm. It's like killer bees in multiple waves. It's like watching Kevin Vang tied to. . . well, you get the point. The point is IT'S NOT HARD WORK and it isn't going to turn into that in any case. I've often thought it would be good to have a collection place for roff trips'n'pics and this is a good opportunity to start it. It's for purely selfish reasons so I don't have to hunt for the photos I want to see. It's like having Stan's page for the swaps - it's just nice to have one spot to go and see what you want to see. I made some edits to the page - see what you think now. "Tim J." wrote in message ... ....I made some edits to the page - see what you think now. If you don't like it, well. . . http://css.sbcma.com/timj/pics/fk_ometer.gif ;-) Kick-ass text.......but the graphics are kinda weak. I dunno......sometimes it just seems kinda like you don't care......or something. Anyway, aside from that, looking at the rest of the site, I must say that disclaimers about ease notwithstanding, you've done a marvelous job. Tis a far better thing you do than most of us would take the time for......even had we the inclination and the technical wherewithal. Um........except for the part where you post pictures other than mine.......It annoys me, but I know I'm not justified in being annoyed. They aren't really hurting me. Still, I don't like it. Wolfgang who, looking critically at his own output, is sorely tempted to take up a career in plagiarism.......um.......hm........who said that? :( |

You got a loving family. I had my best friend euthanized. We call that a "hit" around here. You have a home worth a gazillion dollars--granted that's Canadian dollars. Okay, .81 gazillion Amerikun. I live in a disgarded radio-active, three-sided box made of Teflon (TM--Dupont Corp.). I've got the other three sides. Do not, I repeat (burritos for lunch), do NOT touch the orange tape. You're a computer genius. Oh, get real. He puts the doze in Windows. I can't draw a straight line with an Etch-A-Sketch. Its easy, just lay the Etch-A-Sketch on the paper and put the pencil up against the side. You are well liked. Hell, Timmay died soon after that one Penns he went to. You remember that mini-creel with the soap bars in it that you sent me a couple of years ago? Who the hell imbeds flys with barbed hooks in a bars of SOAP, for christsake! I may never be able to have children now! Sure anyone can make a mistake, I said to myself when I hooked myself in the testicle, when bathing with the first bar. No problem, I said to myself, Franks a good guy, well like around ROFF, but there were flys in BOTH bars of soap. I can't let this one pass, Mister Reid! The second imbedded fly had to be a deliberate act of Yankee flyfishin'/bathin' terrorism. Just hope your wiff can knit me a damn nice Afghan woman! Love, Mark |
