They sliced my eyeball open this morning and implanted
one of these:

http://www.amo-inc.com/site/products/phacoflex2.asp

So that's more than 5 million and one. :-)

Left eye in three weeks, three weeks for that to heal,
should be just enough time for me and Kipper to hit
Minnesota winter season before it closes on March 31.

So far so good, and thanks for all the good thoughts.

When you get the next eye done, since you're in the doctor's office and
all, you might also consider a pair of neuticles.

Not yet, my pupil is still dime-sized from the dilating drugs,
maybe later today.

Since you may still be a little less than par, eyesight-wise, I'm typing
slowly for ya - here's hoping things go well and you get well...so, OK,
return to normal...soon. I remember when my SO had her Lasik done, and
it took her a day or two to get we..., um, return to normal - is this
similar?

I got to watch the procedure, and it was amongst the damndest things I'd
ever seen...at least in the category of "matter-of-fact,"
quasi-deli-counter type stuff - that eye slicer thing was, well, freaky.

Um, wouldn't be easier just to bring Ken in for the role? Well, no,
that wouldn't be fair to Anthony...maybe Ken can be an understudy or
Anthony can go study up - Ken can be sort of like an even more
curmudgeonly Lee Strasberg or something...

TC,

OTOH, he might come back having caught something horrible...like a taste

Been there done that. Amazing what they can do. It's easily less of
a pain than a root canal or even a filling. The best you can do is
parley it into some extra TLC and sympathy. No one but you needs to
know that it doesn't hurt that much. Look up pirate supplies on the
web and ask SOs opinion on eye patch colors.
Check out the picture on the sclaral buckle. I don't know how the
guy did it. He offered to show me the movie but I declined. If ever
there was a guy who could tie size 36 flies it was the doctor who did
this to me.

I guess so, I've never had Lasik. With cataract surgery supposedly
it takes two or three days for all the drugs to wear off and three
weeks for the eye to completely heal. When completely healed they
determine your permanent prescription. Hopefully when all is said
and done I'll just need reading glasses.

Yeah, pretty much a piece of cake, just like you and Louie said.
SWMBO poked me in the eye with my metal eyepatch last night and
*that* hurt like hell, but as for the procedure itself the most
painful thing was the unsuccessful attempt to insert an IV on my
hand. She finally got one in but the site of that first attempt
is ugly.

Went to LensCrafters this morning and had the right lens of my
glasses replaced with a blank. Weird ****. It looks like somebody
keeps moving the ****in' floor on me. Just about the time I get
used to it it'll be time to get the left one done.

Is that child *STILL* in Nawth Cackalacky ? That is *such* a
shame and nigh on child abuse. Nice young lad like that should
be brought up somewhere civilized. Please tell me that you're
gonna send him north for college at any rate.

Glad all went well on eye #1, hope it goes the same on the next.

Getting poked in the eye with a metal eye patch sounds painful without the
surgery! ;)

She had her Lasik done by an acquaintence of ours, and he offered to let
me watch the procedure. I thought it was just laser zapping, and he
didn't give details prior to the start of the thing. So anywho, there
we are - the doc, the nurse, and me on one side of the Zap-o-tron or
whatever it's called, and K in the Zap-o-lounger on the other side of
the thing. There were two binocular eyepieces on our side, with Doc
looking into one, and he offers to let me look through the other. While
the Zap-o-tron is fairly large, it was small enough that I could look
through the eyepiece while still holding my darlin's well-manicured
(i.e., talons fully sharpened) hand. And then, the Slice-o-tron cut a
slice from the top of her eye. "HOLY ****!" I said...and I still have
the fingernail scars to prove it...Doc still laughs about it...K, on the
other hand, has only recently found the humor in it...

Anyway, it took her about 24 hours or so to feel better, and about the
same coupla-three weeks to fully heal/recover/whatever.

R
