This morning i had an encounter while fishing. It was a coyote. I was surpised
at how large it was and looked more like a wolf. It saw me and didn't seem to
want to runoff and came within 50 feet. If i moved it would follow or seem to
stalk. If I made a verbal geture it would move in even closer. It kind of gave
a shrill down my back since i was alone. It had a monitoring collar. I later
told the CO and he asked for a lot of details about it's location and
behaviour.. He said that they were doing a study on them and appreciated the
info i gave them so he could pass it on to the biology type lads.

It's hard to figure if that coyote just wasn't hungry or he had real good
taste to avoid Alice...............

Brother-in-law encountered 2 black bear cubs while trout fishing a small
stream several springs back...they were at the top of a steep bank. He
froze, and luckily Mama never showed up. I remember him saying it was
hard to light a cigarette a few minutes later...the match wouldn't hold
still in his hands LoL

It was fishing early in the morning and it was kind of mystical to have such an
encounter. It makes it all part of the wild fishing experience. If the animal
nipped me it would have been easy to track since it would have a smithwick
rogue on it's arse. My fishing rod was primed and loaded.
I see the following all the time: beaver, rabbits, muskrats (full size), swan,
cormanants, ground hogs, racooons etc,.

what's with the mocking? A guy sees a coyote up close 'n personal while
fishing and passes the story along. You gotta admit it was a nice change
from the endless 'which is better, spinnerbaits or crankbaits?' or
'powerpro or spiderwire?' type threads that are endlessly posted here.
Sheesh...

That may very well be true, but it has no bearing on the coyote post.
There was nothing troll-like about it.

When i was talking to the CO he said he saw the pair in the winter and were
looking at him through a bush area. He expressed hopes that people were not
feeding them. This may account for why the coyote was following me. Like i said
before this animal is much bigger than a fox but smaller than a wolf. It is
very wolf like in appearance and probably has the same hunting abilities. The
indigeneous people revered wolves for their hunting abilities. I had a wolf
encounter also in denser more isolated bush but that is now passe.
It put a shrill down my back on account of the attention the coyote was giving
me. All of this is the truth.

It's a BASS FISHING group, which is subjected to stories about trout,
pike, pickerel, or musky fishing by this group of ninnies

Some of the 'ninnies' you refer to are some of the more prominent
posters of this group. I don't see their posts getting slammed. So I
guess you don't want to read any posts about towing questions, what
battery to use, how to clean a fish, personal messages about hooking up
that would be better suited to email, etc.?

If you want to bite his bait, go ahead. But don't try to tell us that
he/they are not trolls

Thanks for your permission to read his posts. rolling eyes

And a killfile is still the best inoculation against this vermin

Vermin? LoL Calm down...

Eric has been characterized as a flamer in a past posts. The post referenced
other newsgroups where he showed this unsavoury characteristic. When this all
came out he stopped posting to this group for a while. His flaming is a big
systemic problem and contrary to the guidelines: enough said.

Went fishing last evening and really enjoyed myself. I used minnow plugs. I
want to develop an expertise in using them. The retrieve and getting it down
pat are important. I also like to run them parallel to a weed line. The
placement of the cast is important.
In July i will be switching to soft plastics.
