They say that the two happiest days of owning a boat is the day you buy it,
and the day you sell it. That's aint exactly true...

While Brandon (aka: Inky) was extremely happy this morning as Steve and I
were giving him boating lessons, I quietly felt as though I was losing a
small part of me. It wasn't a happy day for me, even though I was ready to
sell my belived Nitro. I was happy to see it going to someone who I felt
would take care of it, and I have to say that Brandon is one lucky son of a
gun.

1. He picked up a sweet boat at a great price...
2. Is going to have Steve Huber as a father in law...
3. Has a wife-to-be that, while expecting a baby, let's him make a boat
purchase...

He's going to be a happy man all the way around. I liked him as soon as I
met him.

As for me... I'm not totally out of fishing, but will be taking a little
break from it for awhile. My wife and kids are already telling me that my
next boat is going tobe a pontoon boat, but I'm not too sure about that.
Afterall... I'm the one who will be paying for it. I also plan on taking
Joe, Terry, and Jack up their offers to fish with them, but only when I feel
desperate about wanting to catch some fish. It will be interesting being a
non-boater for awhile, but next weekend I'll be taking possesion of a 2006
Honda Shadow VLX Deluxe that ought to make up for what I've given up.

My Mom says it's mid-life crisis... I'm almost convinced.

Goodbye Nitro...

Hmmm. You sure you can't take a weekend trip to Pennsylvania? I'll
make sure you have that "I caught some good fish" feeling for a while
when you leave

Mapquest to Long Pond P.A. bring Joe and video camera. We can start
with some Friday night fishing, followed by early morning Saturday
fishing continued by Saturday night fishing then a small Sunday morning
tourney ending at about 12 noon. Your off and running home and back
late Sunday night. I have two boats, two motors and two batteries so
all would be well. would be a great time to throw them SW buzzbaits
towards some 5-7 pounders. But hey who wants to catch that many fish
anyway? :-)

Pontoon boats are clumsy, inelegant, pseudo-watercraft. I
would avoid them at all costs, especially if you plan to
fish moving water because in moving water the damn things
are downright dangerous.

If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods, (at
the intersection of I57, I74, & I72) let me know and I'll
let you take a stab at bass fishing from a canoe.

Aren't cheap????

Soon enough, they will be paying you to stay here. Casino's are on the rise
and they should be open for business in the near future. Only slots at
first. I can't wait for the crap tables to pop up.

You can make it a mini vacation for the family, they have a Great wolf lodge
nearby with a huge indoor waterpark and the whole place is geared towards
the kids so you can go fish.

Randy's nephew can entertain them with his clown show and he doesn't even
need a costume, kids just laugh at him naturally...well everybody laughs at
him. His stage name is Nubbs the clown.

Goodbye Nitro...

Charles my friend,

You've made two young people VERY happy. Inky was so funny, all the way
home, he kept checking the mirror and looking out the back window to make
sure the boat was still there! We got to Inky and Becca's place about 11:30
last night and he had to drag Becca outside to "Look At" the boat in the
dark! I spent the night there, planning on heading home this morning.

This morning, we once again had to go look at the boat, crawl through all
the compartments, look at every inch of the boat and Becca is very happy
with it. I helped him with some additional purchases that all boat owners
have to have (it's fun spending other people's money), helped them through
the registration process and headed for Rhinelander. I got two more boat
related calls from him before I drove the hour home! :-)

Don't worry about the boat, it's going to be loved and well cared for, trust
me on that.

It might be a little bit of a mid-life crisis, but many guys go through it.
At least you've limited yourself to motorcycles and not 18 year old blondes!
They cost even more than a motorcycle!!!! Don't worry about it, get your
motorcycle, enjoy it and know that you have a nice leather motorcycle jacket
waiting for you up here in Rhinelander. I'd be willing to bet within two
years (probably sooner) you'll be back in the boat market.

And it's not goodbye, it's see you later. Remember, you, Joe and Terry are
coming up in September to fish the NWC, right? With three sharing travel
costs, it'll cost little to attend. Unless you can talk Justin into coming
up. I mean, I've fished all but one Mid-Tenn/Southern Classic, and Justin
hasn't fished a single NWC! That just ain't right!!!!

I'll keep you updated on Nitro Inky's progress...

I was hoping that the motorcycle would lead to a few 18 year old blondes!

I'm going to call Justin! I know he can swing one of these... just so he can
teach me how to fish shallow weedy water. How many times have I made it
there? I'm thinking three... but can't remember? Looking foreward to it!

Yeah buddy. Erie can be just plane scary soemtimes. Cap'n Bo of Magic
Moments charters impressed me with his weather eye on one outing. We were
about 25 miles out in a near dead calm. He kept looking at the horizon, and
I saw him glance at the radio a couple times, but no warnings were coming
over the radio. Finally he said, "I don't like the look of this, we are
heading in." He broguht here around and reached up to check the radio to
find somebody had turned the volume down. A weather warning was being
broadcast. He lit up that tub and pushed the throttle to the stop. By the
time we came around the break wall the spray was coming over it, and we were
getting pounded by the rain.

One of the stories I recall being told was of a wave putting an ore
freighter up on the pier at Sandusky.

Even in "good" weather I can't imagine how so many folks fish Erie out of a
Bass Boat. Even the average walleye boat (more freeboard) seems to be
pushing it to me.
