I won't be doing any bass fishing for awhile but Minnesota winter season opens New Years Day on the Southeast Trout Streams so I'll be going up there sometime in January. In the winter the fish become active during the warmest part of the day and will sometimes take tiny little Griffith's Gnats and midges. The fishing is slow but the good thing is, no crowds. ;-) -- Ken Fortenberry |

And from the beginning of December through January, we can head out to the coast and hit the striped bass that run along most of our coast during that time. Usually we go up to Oregon Inlet (North of Cape Hatteras) to put in and we'll fish from Cape Hatteras to the South all the way up to near the VA line above Kitty Hawk and Corolla to the North. What do you do as the weather gets too cold to fish? It is about 15 degrees and snowing here in SE Michigan. I am waiting for the water to freeze so we can fish. Meanwhile, I visit Bass Pro, Gander Mtn, Dick's, Orvis, etc. and just walk around, perhaps buying some small thing once in a while. I am holding off on organizing the tackle boxes for deeper in the winter season. I am also holding off buying the SWL pro pack, the standout hooks, and the new fluorocarbon line until I get absolutely desparate to do something related to fishing. |

Hell I wish I could be fishing. I am so tied up with the new position in my
company and still unpacking boxes. I really want to get back to pouring worms this winter and will when I get the rest of the garage boxes empty. I found out today why Ohio winters are mild in this part of the state. It's God's way of sparing the dumb. 1/2 an inch of snow turned my 15 minute commute into an hour!!! People were all over the place crashing into each other. It was amazing There is really no good food out here, no sabrett hot dogs, no good pizza and a few other things I can't think of right now. Thanks to everyone who invited me for some fishing. I will be seeing Justin soon I hope, and maybe Jack in the Spring. There is the MTC and the NWC which I can easily attend both next year. Makes sense Bob. Next time you're doing that try nose-hooking a bait with a
size 2 or 4 octopus - you'll be amazed how easy it comes through the grass. The best thing is that if it does get stuck, a sharp twitch of the rod tip not only generally frees it, but often triggers a reaction bite as well. Much like the "ticking the grass, ripping it out" crankbait theory. Warren "Bob La Londe" wrote in message .. . "WARREN WOLK" wrote in message news:dxleh.20$Z67.3@trndny02... Hey Warren.....I do like current also as it positions the bass and makes
them active, but on the outer edges of the system it is not so strong as the middle areas. I have an 87 pound t/m and with some of the heavier current flow it can be a pain that I do not like to deal with. I like to fish thin water and catch bass all year long in water from 6" to 5' with some nice bags and some quality. Good luck to you in the up comming '07 tournament season.
