I dunno. I wonder if "bob" is

that's listed as the admin contact for this site. Nonetheless, ole bob
needs to get the word that somebody is spamming usenet groups on behalf
of that site.

The site cleverly uses scripts to collect info instead of posting email
addresses like:

or

or

or

or, perhaps

I suppose that clues are in short supply, these days.......

I see your problem, JR: you keep using the word "think" in inappropriate
circumstances.

Actually I am the man who was employed to do the site - how astute of you
both. The problem is, I new nothing about fly fishing until I did it the
site and have become interested in the sport. Hence the curiosity and the
post.

Spam away my ignorant friends. Not everyone is dishonest. Unfortunately for
you both, you have no decency, nor respect or trust for your fellow man. How
sad, and how proud you must be. Being a webmaster don't you think I know
that the info you discovered would be easily found?

Please go to the nearest blind man and poke em in the eye.

Gee Blob, if this is your way of drumin' up business for your employers
site, they should be filin' for bankruptcy any day now.

Also, you really ougth to check into gettin' a proof-reader, to check your
work, before you post. Oh yeah, read up on Usenet ettiqette before you SPAM
again.

Freaking idiot. Add me to your list of detractors, and mention to your boss
how many people you have offended - people who will never be his customer.
Clue: it's more than 2 or 3. Why not post your boss's email address so we
can let him know directly how stupid his webmaster is?

Jeese. Then your employers are as stupid as you are. They employed someone
who knew nothing about flyfishing to "do it the site", then allow him to
go on and make claims like "We carry only the Best: Hodgman waders", when it
is now obvious that you don't even know what GOOD waders are, let alone "the
best" (or even how to spell "Hodgman" consistently). Gee, I can't wait to
see what other recommendations for "the best" you have to offer me to spend
my money on.

Being a Webmaster who knows nothing about the 'Net and then tries to
advertise his site is, well, the word 'careless' comes to mind.

They are not SPAMming. You were. Or close enough for a rebuke. Do
you quite understand what SPAM is? It's obvious you don't understand
what newsgroups are about and what the rules are. They're less formal
than the HTML for a web site, but more deadly if you ignore them.

Not everyone is dishonest, but you were. Had you come on and stated
your interest in the site and then asked, you'd have been fine that
far. You did the equivalent of going to a party and asking about what
sort of life insurance people regarded highly while never mentioning
that you were part of an insurance company. Think about how many
people would have continued to socialize with you after it came out.

On newsgroups you'd best _always_ indicate what interest you have in a
product while discussing it in any way, shape, or form. Best to put
it in your sig file and mention it in the body of any post that
concerns any related product or service.

You screwed up. And then you came back and attacked. It's time now
for at least a brief apology and some attention to the news.newuser
newsgroup and a Google at various references to Nettiquette.

Come back on the attack again and many of us will be asking you to
hold out your head so we can get a good shot at your eye. Come back
and apologize and stay on topic and you'll probably be at least not
flamed, but may even find a mild, if wary, welcome. Your choice.

Aw hell, Sparky, you ain't seen **** yet. A lot of the guys in this group
never even stopped to breath hard at astute. Some of them (and don't you
dare tell them I said so) stop just this side of brilliant....not to
mention (as mfitons so incisively puts it) occasionally hilarious. Stick
around here for just a bit and I can guarandamntee you, you WILL ****in'
bleed.

The problem is, I new nothing about fly fishing until I did it the

That is "A" problem. We will be happy to demonstrate, free of charge, that
you have others which should concern you a great deal more.......take
English orthography, for instance.

and have become interested in the sport.

It ain't a sport, Sport, it's a......um.....a ethos.....or a penumbra.....or
sumthin'.

Hence the curiosity and the post.

As perhaps even you have begun to suspect by now, the message you posted may
have fallen somewhat short of the best possible means of saisfying that
curiosity. This suspicion should, and as a matter of fact would, give a
thinking human being puase. The course you chose to take in response to the
reaction you got the first time around speaks volumes.

Spam away my ignorant friends.

Aside from the near certainty (trust me on this one) that neither of the
individuals you refer to is likely to consider you a friend, I doubt that
either of them is as confused as you apparently are about the nature of
spam.

Not everyone is dishonest.

Hence the welcome you've received here.

Unfortunately for
you both, you have no decency, nor respect or trust for your fellow man.

Unsubstantiated, speculative, argumentative, stupid, insipid, and just plain
wrong.

How sad, and how proud you must be.

While there is no reason to suppose a priori that a simple observation
simply stated would necessarily be incapable of engendering both sadness and
pride in the individuals who authored it, there is no reason, in this case,
to suspect that it did either.

Being a webmaster don't you think I know

The use of the singular "a" in the above suggests to the careful reader,
notwithstanding the garbled syntax and the attendant ambiguity, that it is
the author, rather than the auditors (or lectors, if you want to be a
stickler for form) who is referred to as a "webmaster". Thus, as "master"
is a widely accepted honorific denoting a high degree of proficiency and
professionalism, your self-referential use of the term is presumptuous,
grossly and undeservedly self-congratulatory, and transparently dishonest.
You should be ashamed of yourself.......and somebody should tell your
mother.

Please go to the nearest blind man and poke em in the eye.

And what exactly, pray tell, do you think they just did?
