GFS2008 - Day One
Well, I survived New Years Eve & a day of bowl games, and the house
guests finally left around 8:00 last night; so I had time to tally up the present state of GFS2008. After one day, the swapper list stands at 6 participants: wayno jeff Hans van der Stroom Denis Lamy Dave Martel Marty Lee Thanks for jumping in, guys. Plenty of room for more! YOS, Joe Fleischman |

I took that as a "most likely" declaration of intention; but it was pre-signup, so I won't hold you to it if I was mistaken. I'll pull you back out, unless you really want in. YOS Joe F. |

YOS Joe F. while those on the receiving end may prefer wayno's better-tied procurements and offerings, i honestly try to participate in the swaps with a personal effort appropriately labeled a miller's mutant. tying flies, as most other artistic or mechanical efforts, is not easy for me and i'm inept at it. it takes a lot of time to complete those ragged-ass things i submit. i'm currently swamped with other stuff going on. i know i'm that goofy, awkward kid nearly every community sports team is obliged to accept. so, just for the gawking humor offered by my presence, i reckon i'll stay in...probably tie some kind of sal****er streamer pattern. so, i'm a tba. jeff |

With that kind of intro, you may shame me into getting my own tying stuff out of mothballs, but I'm holding out 'til the deadline to commit. If the turnout stays sparse, I should be able to crank out a respectable fly every couple of days. It's kind of amazing how it's a use-it-or-lose-it skill. I dusted off the vice a few months ago for my annual salmon trip, & I couldn't even turn out a decent egg pattern. Joe F. |

Against my better judgement, I'll join in too. As of now, I think it'll be a "#16 pseudo-pstimulator". On a whim I tied up a yellow-bodied bleached elk-hair stimulator with light dun hackle as a yellow sally imitation before my Smokies trip last year. It looked nice, but at #14 it was a little too big for the sallies in the Smokies. So this will give me some practice on tying these in a #16. Besides, I can't wait to see what wayno ties this year. There has never been any doubt that they are the work of a true professional. I've never fished with you when you've remembered to even *bring* flies let alone flies you tied yourself. I did raise a few Atlantic Salmon on a CDC last summer... But this one is for Trout, Bass ans Crappies mostly.
