GFS2008 - a week, new arrivals

I'll confess to having difficulty turning out even this small number
of presentable flies, but I'm hanging in there, trying to avoid using
a more expedient method of fly acquisition to mee the deadline. For
the rest of you, the deadline looms in less than a week. (At least I
don't have to worry about shipping mine.)

Two new arrivals at the box this morning. A big thanks to Messrs
Brunvold & Miller.

Photos as soon as I get the camera, tripod, & lighting in the same
place at the same time. I'd have done them today, but I lent the
camera to offspring #1 for his trip to the Motor Trend Auto Show.

YOS,
Joe F.

And the rest of my hooks finally arrived today so I can finish my
tie. I tying Dan Blanton's "Fatal Attraction" from the Summer 1995
Fly Tyer magazine.

Excellent. Now be sure and take a pic of the good-looking fly of
the batch when it comes time, OK? :-)

Chuck Vance (they say the camera never lies; I'd settle for a
little fib)

Heh. I'll do my best. For mine, I think I'll be using the soft focus
filter. :-)

I like it. Maybe soft focus with a sepia tone. :-)

Chuck Vance (and we could call them "classic trout flies")

Sort of confused--how many flies are each of you mailing ???

sounds like a big job.
Craig of Blue Ribbon Flies said in his monthly newsletter
"
I am tying lots of flies. Last month I ended
with 131 dozen and hope to do the same for
February. I have been working on new midge"

Sounded so easy I picked up phone and ordered hooks, foam, and legs to tie
some Jimmy Crickets--a new foam fly they are pushing as the latest killer!

Anyone know a web page that shows how to tie rubber legs around a piece of
foam? Actually I just wanted to get some mail and still have the flower
seed packets I ordered last winter so thought I would order something
different.

I use a needle, thread the rubber legs on, push through the foam and
then (AFTER removing the needle), superglue the point where the legs
enter and exit the foam.

The Air Force One stamp I'm getting back is pretty cool.

14. That's a baker's dozen plus one. Overall, a paltry turnout for
the GFS, but the small number allowed me to join in. I'd have never
had time to do four dozen this year. Hell, I'm struggling to find the
time for these.

At first read, I thought it was you that tied that many. I was
thinking all of the tennis courts in NC had been destroyed. g

Okay, you're in (but remind me in about 10 months.)

Well, at least I got that mailing thing done right. The flies on the
other hand....
