The following is the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at
Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. The term was Political Correctness. The winner wrote: "Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." d;o) OTT, fishing is very good inspite of the high air temps - in the 80s this afternoon. Took big brookies yesterday, and big salmon today. Brookies on nymphs, salmon on tan caddis drys, size 18. Fished Harry Mason's Killer Caddis and got two nice salmon fishing it wet, just under the surface. Another week and a half to go. Dave |

Dave LaCourse poking Also, for what very little it's worth. I haven't logged in to the group in 6 weeks or so. Gave me time to ruminate. Like Dave--who is now all in favor of PC and gun control--I had a change of heart myself. Like the magnetic fields which do occasionally swap ends 180 degrees periodically, I did too. All the off-topic chatter and political wrangling in this group used to bug me (even though I was perhaps *more* guilty than others myself). But now I realize it's what the deal is here. So, for as long as the waters flow freely, I will complain no more for ever. And I'll periodically jab pungy sticks into the group's right wingers too. It's a little like bait fishing. Nasty but fun. |

Fishing is terrible today. Florida Power and Light opened the dam to
4700 cfs, a flood of Biblical proportions. There are a few places to fish if you know where the eddys are. Took a couple of small salmon this a.m. (ciniman caddis hatch) before returning to the cabin for a nap. Lots of ****ed fishermen in camp. Dave |

I am willing to bet that the people I am thinking about would rather have their lips sewn shut than vote for a Republican, *any* Republican. I once worked with a woman at GTE. She was a technician, with no formal education, a lovely lady that I often had coffee with in the morning. I asked her if she was voting for such and such a candidate. Her reply was, no, he's a Republican. He was the obvious choice and won office by a very large majority, but she would not vote for him because of some bias ingrained in her head from an early age. She was incapable of thinking for herself. I believe she would have voted for just about *anyone* as long as they were on the Democrat ticket. There are people like that on roff, and fortunately neither you, nor Scott are one of them. Nor am I for that matter. obroff: Lots of mumbling at dinner tonight. After a couple of bottles of wine, friends are kidding (I think!) about storming the dam keeper's house in the morning, using 7 weights and wading staffs as weapons, and lowering the flow to 1000 cfs. The lake is still full, lapping over the top of the dam, so until that stops, the flow will be Biblical. Going home Saturday to change my underwear, back on Monday.
