GOP Plan A & Plan B
 

It's become apparent over the last week or so how the Limbaugh
branch of the GOP plans to address the next two years.

Plan A There's nothing wrong with the economy.

We're in a recession but it's just a normal recession, happens
all the time, no need to say the sky is falling. It may get a
little worse before it gets better but the last thing we need
is government sticking its nose where it doesn't belong. The
economy will eventually cure itself. If the Obama administration
should happen to improve the economy over the next two years,
well there was never anything wrong with the economy in the first
place and now my great grandchildren are in debt. If the economy
tanks we go to:

Plan B Tax cuts.

The only way to fix a failing economy is to cut taxes. REALLY
cut taxes. Especially on those who create wealth (ie rich people).
We need to oppose pork spending disguised as "stimulus" and
demand massive tax cuts. If the economy tanks over the next two
years or fails to improve, well that proves we were right and
Obama was wrong. If the economy does improve, go to Plan A.

Now you would think that it would be difficult to hold both these
positions at the same time, but that's the magic of Limbaugh
rabble rousing. It doesn't have to be consistent or even coherent.

If you don't believe me just tune in to the Limbaugh show one of
these days or you could just wait for Louie to regurgitate it on
roff.

Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health
provisions slipped in without discussion. These provisions reflect the
handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the
Health and Human Services Department.

Senators should read these provisions and vote against them because
they are dangerous to your health. (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH,
pdf version).

The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United
States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked
electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records
at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial.
It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National
Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments
to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems
appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and
“guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the
stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in
his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care
Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and
“learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

Keeping doctors informed of the newest medical findings is important,
but enforcing uniformity goes too far.

New Penalties

Hospitals and doctors that are not “meaningful users” of the new
system will face penalties. “Meaningful user” isn’t defined in the
bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to
impose “more stringent measures of meaningful use over time” (511,
518, 540-541)

What penalties will deter your doctor from going beyond the
electronically delivered protocols when your condition is atypical or
you need an experimental treatment? The vagueness is intentional. In
his book, Daschle proposed an appointed body with vast powers to make
the “tough” decisions elected politicians won’t make.

The stimulus bill does that, and calls it the Federal Coordinating
Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (190-192). The goal,
Daschle’s book explained, is to slow the development and use of new
medications and technologies because they are driving up costs. He
praises Europeans for being more willing to accept “hopeless
diagnoses” and “forgo experimental treatments,” and he chastises
Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system.

Elderly Hardest Hit

Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors
should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead
of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.

spend more than $800 billion to recharge the failing economy, some

the interest on all that money.

I just want my $300,000.00 and I will give the government more than
one job. Perhaps as many as 300. Give me the money. I know what to
do with it instead of building Mob Museums in Vegas, lawns in DC,
clean up the "historical section" of SF, and the other pork AND
earmarked money in the present bill. We need a stimulus package, but
this one ain't it.

States of America, but in
the entire world, since Planet Earth needs at least one reliable Super
Power it can
depend upon.

With Barack Obama in charge, backstopped by Pelosi and Reid, this once

For the record, the bill contains no language mentioning ACORN. The
false claim is based on a misrepresentation of a provision that would
appropriate $4,190,000,000 "for neighborhood stabilization activities
related to emergency assistance for the redevelopment of abandoned and
foreclosed homes." The bill would require that money be distributed
through competitive processes and states that "not less than
$3,440,000,000 shall be allocated by a competition" to "States, units
of general local government, and nonprofit entities or consortia of
nonprofit entities." It also provides that "up to $750,000,000 shall
be awarded by competition to nonprofit entities or consortia of
nonprofit entities to provide community stabilization assistance."

Well, that didn't take long. Three weeks into the new administration
and the Democrats are squandering their advantage and threatening to
snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Credit House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for getting the ball rolling. Under
her leadership, House Democrats excluded Republicans from having any
voice in crafting the stimulus package.

Acting like children who hadn't seen Santa Claus for eight years,
House Democrats busily loaded up the bill with stuff they had been
unable to get for eight years. It was payback time.

Contraception, funding for the arts, restoration of the national mall,
stop-smoking programs. All while Americans lose their homes, their
jobs, and their savings. It was both childish and disgraceful.

Apparently tone deaf to the disgust and disappointment of Americans
with the bailout package for Wall Street and the banks last year, as
well as the voters' strongly stated desire for change as represented
by the election of Barack Obama, House Democrats set the table for
failure -- again.

I agree, & I eschewed responding to his foolishness for the most part
until recently. For some reason, though, his particular brand of
