Annual Derby Guesses....

for the 15th year in a row(I think I've given you all 3 winners in that
timeg), here we go:

1st--Friesan Fire

2nd--Desert Party

3rd--I Want Revenge

4th--General Quarters

someone else wish to venture pre-race picks?? Or, is it preferable to merely
sit back, watch how wrong I usually am, and comment from there?
Tom

Why not...

Dunkirk, Pioneerof the Nile, Flying Private, boxed (hey, it's a 50-1 with a
shot...)

Dunkirk, wheeled over IWR and Pioneerof the Nile

Pioneerof the Nile, wheeled over IWR and Friesan Fire

If Dunkirk holds up, there's yer winner...if not, Pioneerof the Nile

Preparing to best your record,

There's a truly puzzling horse. Loads of talent, but to date, falling a bit
short. I'll believe in him when he can finish first with some sort of style.
Jone's horse(FF), based on the wet track performance in New Orleans, might
just bury this field, although it might be one of the more talented Derby
fields in years. A case could be made for at least half of those entered.
One that fascinates me is Papa Clem. Stute is a great trainer, but his works
up to the Derby with this one have tended toward the bizarre. Now, watch the
damned animal win by 3 lengths.....
Tom

p.s. My expected actual OTB wagers:
Trifecta box with the 4 listed. Along with exactas with
Desert Party coupled with FF, I Want Revenge, Pioneer,
Dunkirk and Papa Clem. Hopefully, I will be up a couple of hundred before
tossing that money down the flusherg!!!

saw that upon returning home. Substituting Uncle Clem in his place in top 4,
and dropping IWR from wagers.

make that Papa Clem.......oops!. Still, given this weather, FF might air
it out on a sloppy track.

p.s. I have to pay more attention in the future to the runner-up in the
Sunland Derby. Or, whichever mount Calvin Borel picks up.....

That was one hell of a horse race. Hope you didn't lose more
money than you intended. ;-)

nope. I was up a wee bit on the sloppy surface going up to the Derby, with a
couple of winners in the 4 preliminary races I played. Lost 70 bucks on the
Derby, but saw one hell of a race ride. I have to wonder how good this crop
is when a gelded horse that had never won in the US(all wins in Canada) ate
that field alive. Add to that, the winner was a May 10 foal, and thus, not
chronologically 3 years old yet. WOW.
