caught lots of typical western nc rainbows and a few browns...didn't
take as many photos as usual, and i didn't visit any of the speck waters this trip as i had some personal stuff to attend to that limited my fishing, plus i was a bit lazy and simply laid about enjoying the sounds of the creek and feeding the birds. ... best fish were caught in the wild waters up near sassafrass... still my favorite place on earth, though i'm gettin less adept and able at my drop-ins, rock-hopping, and climb-outs. graham county is getting choked with motorcycles, and there is a lot more traffic on the roadways now, but it remains a lovely area i hope to move to soon... this trip, i met a nice lady from south africa who is now one of my neighbors up on england branch and arturo from mexico, who is married to a cherokee and has lived on cornsilk branch for about 14 years - and who understands capitalism far better than anyone i've encountered thus far... jeff |

fontana lake was full...higher than i've seen it since i've been going
across to hazel, though locals say it has been much higher. streams were still low, but not as bad or as warm as 2 years ago... |

Nice stuff Jeff. thanks charlie. june isn't when i usually go up, but it was pleasant. rachel hasn't been well, and didn't think she could handle the drive, so i left gia (new dog) with her and went alone. i hope to begin going up there on a more regular basis...it's still a restful spot. of course, the 7 hours to get there is a bit tense. g are you out west now? jeff |

are you out west now? I got home a couple of weeks ago. I never did make it up to WY/MT, I stayed in UT and AZ. A photog guy I know and I went up to GSNP a week ago Friday on a day trip - mostly looking for rhodos blooming. Seems everything is late this year. Donna and I are going up for a few days in July, hopefully there are blooms by then and I also plan of getting in a little fishing in and around the park. Luckily it's only about 3-4 hours for me to Robinsville or Bryson City. Hope Rachel gets better soon. -- Charlie... http://www.chocphoto.com |
