And FWIW, while it might look good to you Obamaniacs (and, um, frankly, I agree with ol' Barn about these nuts), it wasn't a shining moment for him or the Dems, given the setting and context. He should have either politely rebuffed her or just ignored her altogether - even those there to bitch at him booed her - and he would have looked more like a reasonable Rep (which, generally speaking, he is) rather than a somewhat prissy smartass sissy (which, generally speaking, he can be, just generally speaking, not in public). The anger and (fully justified) suspicion over all this "health care reform" shtick is real, and **** like "Bawnee Fwrank tells 'em off" doesn't help... And the bloat in the various versions being put forth sure as hell doesn't help - WTF does road construction and farmer's markets have to do with (supposedly) getting health care to those who (supposedly) have none? It was nice to see a Dem with the stones to call the nitwit spew "vile, contemptible nonsense" because that is precisely what it is. What "stones" does it take to do that? It was just a stupid thing to do in such a setting. And I think it does help to speak the truth in the face of irrational, fear-mongering lies. Not only does it help, it is absolutely necessary. No, it isn't. It isn't even somewhat prudent. She wouldn't have converted anyone to her cause had he let her ramble on for 5 minutes, but by acting in a way that plays into the "middle America" (in US terms) stereotype of a northern liberal smartass Jew queer, he _potentially_ damaged his own. Standing in front of a angry mob looking like a gobsmacked, deer in the headlights (Arlen Specter) doesn't help anything, that's for sure. And being as full of **** as a Christmas goose (Arlen Specter) doesn't do much for "the cause" either...and being a sorry lying sack of **** (Dodd, Kennedy) kinda tinges things, too... The problem is that "health care" doesn't really need reforming, insofar as the services themselves are concerned, it's the payment systems (really, the "wealth redistribution" associated with "health care") that need a complete top-to-bottom overhaul...unfortunately, not many folks are gonna like what it would take to really fix the situation... It is truely amazing how so many of these know nothing/say no- to-everything/ coupon-clipping America Haters, who pretend to be "conservatives" instead of getting treatment for their various personality disorders, . . . want to build libraries and plant monuments to such illustrious mental giants as toe-tapping dancer Tom De Lay, Rev. I didn't watch the video - I avoid listening to BF-the-condescending-asshole at all costs. Just remember, he's much smarter than you and anyone you know. Just ask him. ... You're probably right. Barney Frank is smarter than me and most anyone I know. Is there something wrong with that ? Trust me, there's *absolutely* nothing wrong with that. He stays in office because he has a "D" next to his name and he's in Massachusetts; he has no redeeming value. Smart people have no redeeming value and should not serve in public office ? Wow - that's quite a leep. Barney Frank is smarter than *everyone*, *in his mind. A man that won't listen to anyone else because they are beneath him is a dangerous man to have in power, especially when the sheep keep putting him there. That's what you've got in Barney Frank. Barney Frank is dangerous ? I like the idea of smart people dismissing the fools as, well ..., fools. I don't think that's dangerous at all, in fact it's a downright goddamn refreshing thing to see in a politician. I'd much rather have a smart man in office who is dismissive of fools than some mealy-mouthed dumbass who panders to every idiot on the block. -- Ken Fortenberry- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Exactly. Ashcroft, and Delusional Raygun, or make macho heroes out of armchair bad-shot phonies like John Wayne, GW, and Dick-less Cheney,... and cast moral paragons out of gambling addict Bennett, and the patron saint of masochistic male prostitutes, Karl Rove and classic angry pervert, Grover Norquist. But, you know, I would defend to the last round the right of all the phony "conservative" America haters to occupy any stall in any dirtbag truck stop in this great country of ours, and their God Given right to toe-tap any willing adult into any disgusting act or otherwise as provided in the secret codicil of the new RNC platform. Just as long as they leave the children, and the disabled alone, and pay their condo fees on time. Which, once again proves that I am a tolerant man. Dave the Moderate Yeah, but what about the fags, queers, homos, and...and...well, the lezbos and them tranny sumbitches - do they get some say-so in all of this...? HTH, R |

If so, one hell of lot of folks, for a lotta damned elections, would have far less problem with him than you do. He must be one hell of a diligent fellow at district service to get re-elected that many times. Read my previous posts. Um, I threw away the cereal box - can you send me the ring...? Seriously, though, this all started because he was dismissive of a loon. While not only will I grant you that it didn't help the overall Dem "health care/town hall" cause(s), I will remind you that I said it did not, I will also suggest that it may have been good "personal politics" for him on the local front. And while he was - with _hindsight_ - wrong about Freddie and Fannie, he was, in fact, right about how uninformed talk/"gossip" about a financial entity, alleging it was suffering beyond the factual situation, could and likely would cause harm. Look at what that idiot Schumer caused by running his yap. IAC, Frank's support of Freddie and Fannie was due more to his philosophical beliefs than any financial expertise. And I disagree with him on that belief, but I don't see how that belief makes him not smart or indicates he is dismissive of others... TC, R |
